MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Sep 1, 2006 Bottle, 6%. Weak citric aroma. Cloudy dark golden colour, small unstable white head. Sweetish flavour with some wheat mouthfeel. lgklotet (420), Singapore, Singapore Aug 30, 2006 Bottle. Very good wit. Full and rich in the way that many wits aren’t.. that’s what I liked about this one.. Wish it was more available here in Sweden.. but it ain’t.. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Aug 28, 2006 Updated: Apr 23, 2007Pours beautiful golden w/ a shallow arctic white spritzy froth. Full nectar w/ soft residual effers. Champagne bubbles persist. Aroma is big banana bread and rock candy. Flavors of citrusy banana w/ a touch of creamy malt and some ginger spice. Finish has a slight peach pit bittering w/ ripe banana that lingers and a persistant maltiness. This is an imperial witbier to the bone. It’s very creamy with low acidity. I wanted more crispness but you can’t have that without some acidity. Very nice none the less. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Aug 22, 2006 Bottle rating. Dark gold pour. Live active carbonating bubbles; champagne like. Aromas of banana, bubblegum, belgian sugar, vanilla. A nice wheat flavor to start out, the finish ends dry. Slightly overcarbonated when cold, but the mouthfeel improves as this warms. Despite the flaws listed, this is pretty darn tasty for a witbier. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 16, 2006 Cloudy bronze with a large, frothy head. Dry aroma that is dusty and full of cobwebs. Sour citrus and wheat with some touches of spice. Grassy hops accompany the aromas. The flavors are full of citrus and a little wheat and spice. Dry, dusty palate with a citrus finish. reakt (938), Greater London, England Aug 7, 2006 Updated: Sep 2, 2007Rate from GBBF, with some updates from a Utobeer bottle. Beer number 5 at GBBF, so beer notes rather basic and sloppy. Fascinating beer! There seems to be some kind of violent storm within my glass. The carbonation rushing to the top of the glass is swirling rapidly and upon coliding with the head, there is an explosion of bubbles rushing back down. What starts as a mediocre head, gradually swells to something quite amazing. One of the creamiest (and one of the tallest) heads I’ve ever witnessed. Dense amber colour with a few resident yummies settling in. Strong-ish nose of alcohol with lemon and honey to compliment. Full bodied. Sharp, spicy start. Pepper, hops and citrus fruits. Abrupt finish, which is a bit of a let down. All round refreshing brew. iowaherkeye (1832), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 30, 2006 750mL, Best before end 2007. I open the cap and the cork is wet. Is this bad? I dunno, let’s see. Pours a hazy light golden with many floaties and a small white head. Aroma is of light ripe oranges, spices, yeast. They must use the same yeast in this as the Grand Cru? Maybe I’m talking out my ass, but something in the aroma reminds me of that beer. There is also some yeasty funk and dust in there. Light black pepper. I think a little bit of cork got into the flavor of my beer. Highly carbonated, light bodied, dry finish. Considering the ABV (6%), it was noticeable. Good, not fantastic. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Jul 27, 2006 Thin white head that reduces quickly to a thin foam. Great carbonation keeps a thin head on top. Light spicy aroma with some wheat and yeast. Zippy bitterness in the aroma also. Color is a slightly cloudy bright orange. Spicy and yeasty flavor. Plenty of pepper and corriander in there. More wheat and some rye. Sharp bitterness again. Fizzy in the mouth and pretty dry. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. A decent belgian whitbier but a very spicy one.
