Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

Een enorm lekker en fruitige geur. En een mooie schruimkraag. De smaak is lekker fris met een toets van sinaas. Witbier is normaal niet men favoriet, maar dit is een goeike

*Old rating. Best before 30/10/2012. Great intense sourish beer. Great floral, yeast, spices. Round and fresh. Great stuff.

Pours a pale copper colour with big white head which soon goes. Aroma of peanuts, yeast, spice. Taste is quite subdued, medium sweet and light but lightly bitter. Taste doesn’t linger. Might be more enjoyable on a warm summer’s day but not bad!

Yeasty wheat citrus lemon rind on the nose. Very carbonated. Light citrus, sweet breads, creamy malts. Finish isn’t bad but it’s quite abrupt. Was very excited at the idea of a "dubble wit", but it’s not especially different than an average wit. Less flavor. After the finish has some sweet creamy peach flavor. Not bad, but not the best wit either.

0.33l bottle, courtesy of Cristobal37. Slightly hazy golden body, huge white head that collapses quite quickly. Aroma of lemon zest, orange peel, yeast, grains and some spices. Taste of orange zest, honey and grains. OK beer.

God. Smakar lite lite. Kanske något för Wilda. Väldigt len och trots styrkan fruktig

Bottle sample at a tasting at Alexei and Raphaela’s. Thanks Yoav. Cloudy gold and headless. Roasted peanuts, salt and some spices in the nose, sour in a weird way in the mouth, mouthful of yeast and quite dirty. Full-bodied and very fizzy, peanut butter stickiness and aftertaste.

Orange colour for a "double white"? Rather watery feel in the mouth at first. Bitter like the average pils. Taste of the average Belgian lager.

A white beer colored like a blonde beer. Aroma and taste are linked, unfortunately I can’t find the words to described it. Not that it is spectacular or something, as the best deScription I found was :"it’s like a Maes, with more taste". Not bad, but not awesome either.
