Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

half cloudy, dark, yellowish color with a big white head. lots of lemon and hay in the aroma. i picked up a really weird light grain vibe in it, with just a touch of what is similar to a very subtle skunk flavor. Its very odd, not bad, just odd.

Pours with a very pale yellow body topped by a thick head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet with a nice spicy note, some yeast and a little malt. Light bodied, crisp and smooth.

sampled at the 05 noogfest. thanks to whomever brought it somewhat lemony & spicey in the flavor, lacked the crispness I’d expect from a witbier

From Bottle.Dark yellow body with a pale fluffy head lasting quite long. Quite much floating yeast. Fruty citrusy aroma, extremely nice and appealing on a hot summer evening. Some sourness at the tip of the tongue, becomes peppery deeper down the mouth. Needs a little adjustment to get used to it but becomes a quite nice bready aftertaste. Medium to little carbonation, not quite usual in a Blanche. Warms you more than it refreshes you. An unusual beer for this type but worth a try.

Bottle. Straw yellow but clear (but I got a pour off the top of the bottle that had settled). Lemony and somewhat sweet aroma. Nice light body, with lemons and citrus and some spice, and light malts and a light tartness. Noted and a little surprising bitter finish.

(Bottle 75 cl) A very unusual Biere Blanche. Darker, stronger, weirder. Dark golden with a nice, creamy head. Very complex spiced pattern - appart from the usual orange peel and coriander also juniper is used. Some citric bite and a unusual (for it’s type) bitter finish. Not quite as quenching as lighter Belgian Wits, but very original and different wheat beer, but probably not what most would consider a Biere Blanche. 170198

A yellow appearance with a large white head. The aroma was musky and citrusy. The flavor had a lot of lemons. grapefruit, and hay. A little bit of funkiness exists in the aftertaste. This was a very good one
