Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

Dried dark fruits and chocolate with herbal, orange-citrus hops. Opaque amber-brown with fizzy tan head that recedes to ring. Plenty of sediment regardless of how carefully you decant the bottle. Cookie dough, chocolate, tobacco leaf, pear, peach, plum, orange and banana notes in the very complex, fruity flavour with a sharp, crisp bitterness and lingering peppery spiciness in the mouth after a very dry finish. Medium-light body with moderate to strong carbonation that pricks the tongue and a soft, smooth texture. A very interesting, if non-traditional take on the style. Bottle (trade Aug. 2004). Thanks, JoeMcPhee!

33 cl bottle, bbe 2007. With the last pour, honey coloured and hazy, with a small but relatively compact head. The aroma is wonderful, most of all hoppy, but there’re also notes of dried fruits and cherry candies... Aromatic hops take definitely over in the flavour. On the palate, rich, mellow, soft and full-bodied like honey, with a gentle bitterness which strikes a couple of seconds into the aftertaste.

From a 750ml bottle with a best by date of 2007. Poured a dark and bright gold. Huge white head. Aroma is soapy lemons and some bread crust. Also some herbal notes. The taste is citrus and herbs with some pepper in the finish. A crisp and light mouthfeel. Leaves me salivating. This is an interesting wit.

Bottle Clear, blond body. Off-white, creamy head. Fair lace. Lots of quite large particles. Nose of hops (citrus, orange peals). Lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet finish.
