Doggythedog (1541), Split, Croatia Dec 17, 2008 0.75 l bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado - huge thanks! It is certainly great to see new Belgian beers being imported in Croatia. This poured a pretty, murky honeyish body completely riddled with big particles and with a huge thick head that went away at a medium pace. Lactic nose, herbal notes of orange, soft honey. The taste starts of nicely, orange, dust, bread, sweetish. Light presence of alcohol. Gets better later on and notes of banana soap and weak bubblegum start to show. Chalky. Reminded me a lot more of a German than a Belgian wheat. Refreshing and dryish. A good wheat beer indeed. KyotoLefty (1371), Kyoto, Japan Dec 15, 2008 Flowery, fragrant aroma of honey, lemon, clove, wheat malt. Rich and big, a bit sweet. Bright, golden color, clear with huge floaties. Clean, sweet flavor of fruit, spice. Very rich and tasty. Thick, rich palate but quite clean. Excellent. The best Wit I have tried.
beachbum25 (778), Powellville, Maryland, USA Nov 30, 2008 750 ML Bottle-Clear golden color w/a good size white head. Sweet spiced aroma. Kind of a standard wheat, some lemon/citrus/orange peel, some sweetness, had a bit of a spiced bite to it; Not a bad brew, but I don’t think it was up to the quality of other stuff I’ve had from this brewer. Good, serviceable brew if you like this style, but not great; I wouldn’t seek it out. Long finish w/just a touch of orange peel. espenra (277), Oslo, Norway Nov 29, 2008 33cl bottle from Barley Wine. It poured a hazy yellow colour with a big creamy
head that settled down fast in the glass before it disappeared completely. There’s
also a lot of yeast residue floating around in the glass. The aroma is mostly
dominated by yeast, but there is also some hints of citrus and honey. The flavour is sweet and tastes of bread, yeast, oranges(?) and some pepper. It has a lingering aftertaste. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Nov 1, 2008 Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured hazy white with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate yeasty citrus aroma. Medium body with a light sticky texture and particles. Medium citrus, yeasty and spice flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met. dornoy (678), Lyngby, Denmark Sep 27, 2008 Thick white head on a dark cloudy body. I would have expected a lighter beer, but this one was really strong. Probably what they mean by "Double white". Not bad, but not an everyday beer either. kiefdog (1534), Tampa, Florida, USA Sep 9, 2008 75cl bottle from Knightly Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a cloudy dark golden color with a thick and foamy bright white two finger head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is typical witbier -- bread, yeast, grain, and spice. Somewhat astringent. Faint hint of citrus. Flavor is very different from the nose--almost faint at times -with muted notes of wet hay, sweet malt, and veggie and meat notes. Clearly visible and sizable chunks of yeast. Generally light bodied with faint finish. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Sep 8, 2008 In the 750 mL bottle from Beertopia. I fine beer for $6.99, let me tell you. Explosively carbonated with a dense cake of yeast in the bottom that just would not go into suspension no matter how hard I swirled. Mild spiciness, a tinge of black pepper on the tongue. I had hoped for more orange, but mostly got a tart citrus. This is chunky with ginormous flocculent yeast colonies abounding throughout the pour. Even though I only managed about two-thirds of all the yeast into the glasses, It was still way too much yeastiness and bread dough to get down.
