Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

This was very strange indeed. A light and smooth wheat beer with the consistency of a double. It was a bit skunky smelling, but settled on the palate. Very strong in cereal flavors as well.

Bottle. Yeasty nose, spicy-sour. Very light citrus. Swirly thin head sits atop a cloudy orange beer. Full-bodied, thick and lightly tingling from carbonation. Well-rounded coriander with more lemon than orange. Acidic finish punctuated by coriander.

Great nose of musk, apricot, capsaicin and honey. Pours cloudy orange with little head. Flavour follows the noe somewhat, with an added element of hospital swab. Finish is long, dry and refreshing. A complex. interesting and winning wheat.

The best witbier IMP. Hazy apperance and spicy smell. Refreshing taste with a nice fizzy Co2. Sweet spicy aroma yeast, mild hops and orange. Heavier body due to grainbill., and you can fell the oats in the beer. Nice beer - a most have in the frigo.

330ml bottle. Deep amber colour, slightly hazy, with next to no head. Plenty of carbonation. Aroma of sweet grain, yeast, orange and earthy hops. The flavour was complex, with marmalade, apricots, herbs and a mineral edge. The finish was long and dry. An interesting take on a wheat beer.

Tasted 14/03/2008. 330ml bottle from Rumble’s Wellington. Goddamn awful condition. The big airy disappearing bubbles looked sorry from the start. Cloudy chunky hazy gold. Off white head vanishes. Fruity sweet sweaty smelling wine and paper on the nose. Alcohol has nothing to hide behind and is very prominent. Tart fruity sweet winy beer with sodden paper in the mouth. Fizzy. Awful - tastes worse than the awful commercial description reads. I’m scoring generously because I’m sure it must be better fresh... surely?

Cloudy golden with a disappearing bubbly white head. Fruity aroma, pineapple and other tropical fruits, plus some yeast and a touch of spice. Rather dry, yeasty flavour with a fruity sweetness - reminds me more of a blonde than a wit.
