Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

Bottle. Nose is very wheat. Banana, straw, a little fruity. Taste is banana, very sweet candy sugar, strawberry, cream, almost vanilla, wheat. Mouthfeel is oddly watery. Strange cloying wit.

4/1/2009 1:36:17 PM Bottle from Bierkoning. Murky orange body with milky head. Nose of chocolate and fruits. Quite a punch for a witbier with serious chocolate notes. Also citrus and pineapple in the mix. Refreshing and creamy. Gets a bit yeasty and spicier towards the end. Nice, as always, from this brewer.

Hazy amber, no head. Sour apples, old cured cheese, straw. Quitecsour and dry. Average to low carbonation, medium body, watery to oily. Very unlike a wit, peculiar.

Hazy golden pour. Sizable white head. Little bit of lacing. A somewhat spicy nose, but more estery. Taste is a sweet typical witbier taste. Bready, yeasty, estery. Not bad.

Hazy orange sunset pour with almost no head. Sweet honey aroma, with some hints of spicy phenols and grassiness. Unique taste - a distinct grain flavour, some tannins, honey, musty yeast, white pepper, a little grassiness. The finish has slightly over-toasted bread notes. Light bodied. Enjoyable but odd for a wit.

Bottle @ Breda www fest Murky honey color, no head. A: flat, with some fresh wheat and grass notes. T: different here, with a nice wheaty taste from the start. Develops a honey wheaty bitterness, with fruity yeast notes. Aftertaste mildly dry, wheaty.

330mL bottle from International Beer Collector. BB 05/02/2017 Murky-looking orange body, small ring of dense foam. Nose is rather nice - toasty cereals, porridge, hay, earthy spice, pepper, orange rind, bubblegum esters, ripe pear & stonefruits. Texture is smooth, slighty creamy, fine carbonation, full bodied moreso than other wits. Sweet upfront - lots of toasted cereal, candy sugar, ripe apricot & pear, with peppery phenolics, bread, bitter orange & woody spice. Rather nice - almost like a Wit meets a Tripel/Belgian blonde
