Poured a hazy golden blond body with an enormous white rocky head. The aroma, though it was light, brought up notes of a delicate doughy yeastiness, light clove and coriander. I would have to say the flavor basically backed up the nose, as being light and very drinkable. There was a fragile little note of orange and lemon there in the finish, and the palate was a smooth buttery biscuit! This is a Pretty nice brew, Not too exciting yet good, but I’m glad I didn’t buy an entire 750 for myself! Pwn3d (1137), Manhattan, New York, USA

It really stands among the dime a dozen wits. Right off the bat this is apparent. Pour is deep hued gold/amber, tons of lace work, and has so many large floaters - very typically of l’Abbaye des Rocs. Aroma is light citrus, yeast, and alcohol. Flavor is suprisingly light for the brewery, but for the style execellent. Yeast and mild citrus’ and spices are the main focus... finish has some alcohol but remains pleasant. In all, great Wit but I think this brewery could go even bigger. 3.85 ALLOVATE (1126), Perth, Australia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 5, 2005 Tasted this at the Westende Belgian Beer café, Perth, on the weekend and disappointed to find out that it is another bottled beer they have stopped stocking. Poured into a tall tulip glass, a little too cold, a short fluffy white head forms and lasts, leaving irregular webs of lace down the side. A lot of very fine carbonation kept the large yeast clumps in suspension for the most part amidst its opaque orange gold body. Piney, leafy and toffee-sweet nose, herbal and spicy, with a balance of sour lemon. Sugary sweet upfront in the mouth, tangy and citric. Medium-light bodied and medium in carbonation (not biting). Flavours of toffee, tangerines, yeast, herbs and ground pepper. Finish is long with a sweet citric tang that comes across quite refreshing. Quite a sweet beer, even more amplified as it warms. Not at all a Belgian Wit, in fact I would do my best to say it is in a completely different field. Unique and turned out to be quite a nice drop. GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2007 Pours out hazy orange, agressive head forming and taking on a cream color. Retention is excellent, a tall mound of frothy carbonation spewing from the center of the thick looking body. Aroma is indeed curious: while there are wheat and coriander notes present, a bold pepper presence is the most noticeable trait. Also noted are sweet fruits(apple) and spicy yeast. Flavor proves that the spicy, peppery nose was no illusion. A very interesting and flavorful witbier, it also showcases more citrus and apple, banana, vanilla custard and spices. Alcohol is zippy and apparent, though not cumbersome. Finishes dry and mildly spicy, a welcome departure from typical beers in this style category. Palate is soft but very lively and coats the tongue in all the right places. Another great beer from des Rocs. If this were any drier it would be too much so, but as it is, it just draws me back for the next sip, very enticing. This brewery just couldn’t recieve enough accolades for innovative and consistent brewing that retains a genuine traditional feel. jredmond (1090), New Jersey, USA

Pours great hazy orange body with small white head - lots of stuff floating around. Aroma is light - orange. The taste is pretty simple, smooth, but great. Some alcohol in the finish.
