Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

Thick white head on a dark cloudy body. I would have expected a lighter beer, but this one was really strong. Probably what they mean by "Double white". Not bad, but not an everyday beer either.

Seems a bit stronger than your average witbier, but then again I see that word double at the top of the page. Lots of plum and sherbet in the aroma. On tasting it seemed quite dusty and the alcohol was a bit too present. The flavour was a touch sour, but with some bitterness joining the party. It was medium bodied, and a little too gassy. Not bad, but it could be better. Could have been a dodgy bottle though.

750ml CorkedCloudy, orange, golden with an enormous rocky snow white head that lasts forever. Yeasty aroma light funk and sour fruit, spices, real nice. Soft velvety mouthfeel. Flavor a bit thin, light fruit, yeast and faint hops. Overall a refreshing ale.

Bottle. Straw yellow but clear (but I got a pour off the top of the bottle that had settled). Lemony and somewhat sweet aroma. Nice light body, with lemons and citrus and some spice, and light malts and a light tartness. Noted and a little surprising bitter finish.

Hazy blond with tight disc of foam on top. Low carbonation. Quite a soft, sweet flavour with only a little citrus coming through in the finish.

Murky golden poor with lots of sediments. Creamy off-white head. Aromas of coriander, creme brule, caramel, apple puree, corn, lightly peppered and subtile notes of peaches. Extremely well balanced beer. I’ve never tasted a Witbier with so many flavors. A nice mixed explosion of spices and fruits. Perfect malts and yeasts as are most of the beers from this brewery. Very Satisfied!
