Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

hazy amber-orange with yeast particules floating in, few foam, strong peachy and perfumy aroma, corny, tart and oily with a decent bitterness, the finish is dry, malty and fruity - complex and solid

750ml bottle, 2005 vintage. Tart, citric aroma, plenty of lemon and orange peel along with notes of pear, melon, coriander, banana, clove, wheat malt and a certain floral perfume. Dark golden amber color, not unlike a sunset, with a vigorous, foamy head and sticky lacing. Flavor begins with some light fruity tartness, becoming more citric and spicy leading into the gently dry, bitter finish. The fading impression is that of peppery spices and juicy lemon. Lively, active, quenching mouthfeel with a medium body. Rather bold in character for the style, and this would seem to be the point.

750 ml bottle, date unknown. Light golden, lots of particulates; soft foamy diminishing head. Quite yeasty and farmy in the nose, no spicing. Initially sweet on the tongue, quite full-bodied and yeasty, drying out at the finish. Vanilla, lemon, sourdough, just loads of flavor. Despite the plain-jane initial nosing and average appearance, this is a great wit and another winner from Abbaye des Rocs.

Bottled. Citrus aroma. Golden color, clear! (strange for a white), good lace. Sweet, light bitter, grapefruit, soft yet sparkling. Very drinkable beer.

A cloudy dark golden color with an eggshell colored head. Strong yeasty scents with corriander, citrus and honeydew. Very tasty but a touch too much on the yeasty flavors.

Bottle. An orange yellow color with a white head. The aroma is filled with orange peel, clove, and lemon zest. A nice dry citrus flavor. Rating from December 2005 notes.

Nice malt aroma, with Belgian yeast, honey, light fruity hops, apples. Medium orange-amber hazy with large chunks floating in it. Fluffy white lacing head. Medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. Starts with classic Belgian ale taste, lightly sweet and acidic, and with a subdued bitterness. Yeast taste, chalky and light bitterness come in at finish. Light alcohol profile. After is clean with some yeasty bitterness.

Deep, rich orange colour. A hint of banana on the nose. Very pleasing balance of orange and coriander. Really full palate. Very nicely balanced beer.
