Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

From bottle, poured at the 2006 Pizza Port 12 Hour Belgian Beer Party courtesy of a generous ratebeerian. Creamy, bizarre greenish-gold colored pour with a full, white head. Very yeasty aromas of lemon spiced tea, cream, dried oregano, and a slightly sour sugar encrusted bread. Almost creamy mouthfeel, with an acceptable level of complexity on the tongue. The light lemony citrus flavors shine through with a bit of yeasty banana cream pie. A touch watery and light on the palate, but the balance between fruits and yeasty spice is elegant.

Pours a rather cloudy, opaque "muddy" orange. Lots of yeast particules present.. Medium head that dissaperas in a few minutes. Yeast is very prominent in the aroma as well as bread. You can definetly taste the cereals in this beer. Slightly citric, tarty taste. Very different kinof wheat beer. Excellent. A+ in it’s category

A Mes rate: Bottle from Kris Wine
Hazy golden brown with a thin white head that quickly settled to nothing in a violent fizz. Lovely estery aroma with some nice fruity hops and a lick of vanilla. Similar flavour that somehow retains an Abbaye des Rocs character. Superb spicy bitterness in the finish. More blonde than wit I think but still jolly good.

...bottle from Cloudwine. Poured a darkish orange, with lots of tight bubbles, and a small white head that lasted for a good while. On the nose, majorly wheat, maybe a slight hint of hops, but nothing else. Medium bodied, decent flavor, slightly weird from the pepper notes, but not the typical orange\corriander duo. Dry finish, with a weird aftertaste, but wasn’t too bad. Not bad, but rather expensive and not worth it.

Pours hazy orange yellow with tons of bubbly offwhite head. Aroma very light dough and lemon. Flavor extremely doughy with slight citric undertone. Too yeasty for my liking.

33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, easy to drink, yet complex, cloudy, good head, one of the best Belgian White
