Commercial Description:
Blanche des Honnelles (1991) was originally very localised, and has since expanded beyond the boundries of the greater and lesser Honnelle rivers, from which it takes it's name. The Blanche des Honnelles leaves the beaten path somewhat. It has an amber colour which is after all the traditional appearance of the Blanches. It is also stronger (6%) than the Blanches that we know. Its taste is surprising and is not comparable to the brews with the same name that are now on the market. If the bouquet is subdued its first flavour is a stark dry sharpness against a pepper background. There is no acidity in this Blanche that is made with three cereals (barley, wheat, oats). It has a stimulating taste, leaving a subdued but refreshing final impression. Lots of character and curious.

Cloudy golden with a disappearing bubbly white head. Fruity aroma, pineapple and other tropical fruits, plus some yeast and a touch of spice. Rather dry, yeasty flavour with a fruity sweetness - reminds me more of a blonde than a wit.

750 ML Bottle-Clear golden color w/a good size white head. Sweet spiced aroma. Kind of a standard wheat, some lemon/citrus/orange peel, some sweetness, had a bit of a spiced bite to it; Not a bad brew, but I don’t think it was up to the quality of other stuff I’ve had from this brewer. Good, serviceable brew if you like this style, but not great; I wouldn’t seek it out. Long finish w/just a touch of orange peel.

33cl bottle from Barley Wine. It poured a hazy yellow colour with a big creamy head that settled down fast in the glass before it disappeared completely. There’s also a lot of yeast residue floating around in the glass. The aroma is mostly dominated by yeast, but there is also some hints of citrus and honey. The flavour is sweet and tastes of bread, yeast, oranges(?) and some pepper. It has a lingering aftertaste.

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured hazy white with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate yeasty citrus aroma. Medium body with a light sticky texture and particles. Medium citrus, yeasty and spice flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Thick white head on a dark cloudy body. I would have expected a lighter beer, but this one was really strong. Probably what they mean by "Double white". Not bad, but not an everyday beer either.

75cl bottle from Knightly Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a cloudy dark golden color with a thick and foamy bright white two finger head. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is typical witbier -- bread, yeast, grain, and spice. Somewhat astringent. Faint hint of citrus. Flavor is very different from the nose--almost faint at times -with muted notes of wet hay, sweet malt, and veggie and meat notes. Clearly visible and sizable chunks of yeast. Generally light bodied with faint finish.
