I think I lost 1/3 of the bottle to my mother in laws tablecloth. After pouring into glass, small wisps of foam coat the surface and provide subtle lacing. Nice deep amber color. Smell of malt and little hops. Smooth mellow texture and flavor. Very nice and well rounded. The slightest amount of good buttery sourness on the back sides of my tongue. Brown sugar sweetness and slight alchohol nose round off the finish. Excellent beer. Now I must go squeeze the remaining 1/3 glass out of the table cloth.
12oz bottle bought at the great Tanakaya liquor store in Tokyo for around $4. thewolf (5842), Kolding, Denmark

Well its a pours a muddy dark brown with a thin staying white film head. Aroma has plums, liqourice, chocolate and a vinious edge to it. Flavour is very ’dark’. There are plums, raisins, dark chocolate and quite a touch of hoppy bitterness. A slighty vinious streak runs through it. It is a good beer, sadly it is a bit let down by the large amount of particles in the beer. My girlfriends glass was better poured (relax, I poured that too). Still there is a lot of residue... but a stunningly nice beer otherwise. Dedoulequeen07 (136), london, Greater London, England
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 8, 2007 Nice rich claret colour with a large off white head. Rich plums, grapes and vinious aroma with dark malt and spice. Rich plummy, dark fruits, chocolate, roasted malts with hints of coriander and hops. A rich sweet fruity beer which hides alcohol stength well. A hearty mouthfeel with a chewy character probably due to mature yeast particles floating in my bottle. As Pat says ’your not a real man if u dont drink yeast’. Lol but i aint no man alexanderj (2294), Chino Hills, California, USA

Bottle; poured a murky brown, with some orange coloring. Aroma dark fruit, grape, brown sugar; sweet and yeasty. Some spice. Taste is complex and sweet; flavors seemed to come in waves. Malt backbone; with splashes of citrus/orange, sugar/brown sugar, spice, and some grape/wine. Alcohol well hidden. Chocolate hints as well. Fitting beer for the occasion, because I really enjoyed it jake65 (1760), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2007 Bottle: Poured a murky amber/brown with a large beige head. Lots of particles suspended below the surface. Nose is citrus and sweet, some winelike tones, even some hops. Taste is rich with sweetness; some wine, fruitiness, citrus, and malt. Some detection of the alcohol presence. Interesting, but not quite what I’d hoped for. Lubiere (4557), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 25, 2007 A super hazy brown ale with a thick light moka head, lots of kleenex floaties. A very pleasant sweet candy sugar aroma, yeast, oranges, caramel and spices. In mouth, wow! A delicious beer with sweet burned caramel, light moka, and good hops, followed by spiced yeast, licorice, and citrus. Rich and onctuous, this is a good sipping beer. Went well with the Cordobes. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 24, 2007 Hazy ruby/copper color. Lasting tannisth frothy head. Aroma full of fruit, citrus, and a hint of chocolate. Complex taste. Chocolate, some cherries maybe? Definitely some caramel as well. NachlamSie (1659), Tennessee, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 17/20 | May 21, 2007 Updated: May 22, 2007Bottle. Pours a brownish red with a tall tan head with many floating yeast particles apparent. There is a very doughy, bready nose with hints of sourdough, citrus, banana, and dark spices. There is rich bread throughout the flavor with hints of chocolate and spices. The finish reminds me of a molasses cookie with bread, bananas, and citrus fruit. The biggest turn off here is that I can actually feel the giant yeast particles hitting my lips and teeth when I drink. It’s like pulp and I want to chew it, which is weird. This was from the first modest pour out of the bottle too. Not my favorite Belgian style, but this is a darn good take on it.
