4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 21, 2010 Sweet and a bit "winey" fruitness as described. A bit of an orangey, malty sweet aromatic spiciness in the nose. Brown-orange color with a tan head. Smoothe and complex with a bit of alcohol taste in there to warm you up.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Decent beige head, brown, black color. Light on aromas, bready malts and hints of toffee, wood.
Warm, toasted malts at the beginning, which turn more present and sweeter at the same time. Carbonation is lively, vanishes soon, due to the intense malts. Interesting development on the palate, as the beer starts earthy, bready with hints of wood and rather dry, the malt needs a second to turn sweet and warming, with hints of fruit and also spices. Almost too sweet aftertaste, sticky. Refreshing at first, loosing its carbonation to the sweetness. Complex beer with a decent body, defined by malts, with an unusual high carbonation.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Shared a 75cl bottle from Cora (Luxembourg). Pours a reddish deep brown colour with a very thin tan head. Aroma is malty, roasted, nuts and red fruits. Average to soft carbonation and medium oily body. Taste is well balanced, more sweet than bitter, with a long roasted caramel dry finish. Overall, a very pleasant beer that asks to be drunk

Cor marrom com tons ameixa, turva, espuma bege de média formação e baixa/média persistência com bolhas que ficam subindo para a superfície; pouco lacing que se desfaz rapidamente;

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Short dark beige head with some candy, fennel and hops aromas. Quite complex. Opaque dark copper body. Thick in mouth like soup with chocolate, nuts and candy taste. Very rich and well balanced. Would be perfect with even more length and less "fat".

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
75 cl. bottle, shared - a slow gusher. Lovely unclear, dark amber colour with ruby hues. Dense, off-white head, that faded fast. Rich, fruity aroma with caramel malts, spices, yeasts, initial dark, dried fruits that turns in to something sweeter - apricot and raisins. Candid sugar and grass/hay notes, some alcohol. Taste is sweet. Full body, thicker texture and a lively carbonation. Finishes malty and fruity with some bitterness and a light hint of liquorice. Big, rich, very Belgian, complex and excellent.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Une brune typique belge, épicée, caramel, café. Je n’y ai pas trouvé de complexité. Déception.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle 0,33ltr: Hazy dark brown coloured brew with nicely bitter taste. Hints of caramel, spices, vanilla and some slightly sourness. This beer is very above expectations, thought first another Abbey Dubbel but i was wrong.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
33 cl bottle, 9%, best before 20.2.2014, into a wide tulip. Appearance: Red color, clear with a lot of rocky sediment, nice smooth creamy beige head. Strong malty spicy nose.
Aroma is syrupy, lots of malts, dark bread, wood, earthy yeast. Dark grapes, red apple peel, a whole of raisins, nuts, caramel, plum, an hint of licorice, cinnamon, spices.
Winous indeed, very rich.
Taste has a wonderful harmony within malts sweetness and hops bitterness, a bit salty, umami, tasty, tasty and damn tasty, can’t stop sipping. Finish is sweetish, but somewhat short with hoppy overtones. Medium to full bodied, a bit tart.
Palate:, alc 9% but the alcohol is subtle and very pleasing, liquor like, comes out after a while. Incredibly smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation, creamy.
Overall: this is a wonderful, classy, ultra smooth. But personaly i’d like a bit more prominent hops profile, anyway for winter this is a winner.
