Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Pours a cloudy amber color with lots of floaties and a medium offwhite head. Good, appealing aroma of malt, fruits and yeast. Good, enjoyable flavor of malt, fruits and yeast with some spices. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Good stuff.

Hazy amber colour, small white head, leaving a nice lace. Aroma is fruity (oranges) and spicy with alcohol tones. Taste of citrus, coriander. Yeast is prominent. Nice mouthfeeling. Ends slightly bitter.

Hazy amber orange, moderate head with very good lacing and retention. Aroma is huge orange peel with yeasty funk, caramel, lesser notes of other fruits. Medium to full body, somewhat sweet, alcohol hidden well. Very enjoyable, first ’real’ Belgian I’ve had in a while. Doesn’t have the oomph for me to give it a 4/5 though.

Bottle, 75 cl @ festival Hotton. This is not my first taste of this beer. Visit the brewery years ago. Amber color, white head. Aroma fruits, yeasts. malt. Medium to full body. Taste = alcoholic, hop bitterness, little sweet touch. Yesterday this beer was a little to old. But it stills good for me.

Pours a light amber color with an enormous white frothy head, lots of lace, tons of sediment suspended in the body. Aroma is moderately floral hops with a fair amount of yeast and light fruitiness. Moderately sweet and malty start gives way to some light fruitiness before finishing with a light/moderate bitterness lots of yeast and some spice. I like the combination of a nutty malt with yeast and fruit, but the spice detracts and keeps it from being really good.

25.4 oz bottle. Best before end of 2007. Clear amber with a fluffy white head. Lotsa lace; big bits in last glass. Tart citrus nose with hints of Band-Aid and wood. Up front, sudsy carb; body almost light. Yeasty carmelized lemon with ginger, stale cloves, nutmeg and apricot. Nor bad but off notes drag it down. Past its prime?
