Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

In the bomber bottle at the 2006 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours light amber with a thin head. Has a pronounced butterscotch aroma with a bit of raisins thrown in. Reminds me of Yankee cider in the aroma department. Roses. Definitely roses in the aroma. The flavor has a big sweetness with some apricot. I get caramel goodness as well. The long caramel finish is like drinking candy.

Bottle, pours a dark amber with quite a bit of carbonation and a large pillowy off-white head. A strong sweet malt and fruit caramal with oranges and spice. Quite a full mouthfeel that also carries some carbonation, which acts to moderate some of the flavours. The sweet malt is there again, but I get less of the fruit and the spice and more yeast. The finish is quite soft. A good beer, but the palate counts against it being considered higher.

Bottle. Light brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is strongly mulled fruit, and the flavour is soft, fresh and fruity mulled. Overall a very good beer.

Pours a lovely honey amber with a medium white subtle head. Very nice aroma wit hsweet malts, spices, some scents of flowers, and caramel. tastes of butterscotch, citrus, and orange. has a very Belgian taste to it, somewhat similar to a triple. Very nicely done. This brewery is as solid as a belgian brewery gets.

Bottle courtesy of Viper666. Pours a murky dark orange with tons of floaties and chunks and a huge lasting foamy white head. Aroma’s a touch sour with dark fruit, sweet malt, Belgian yeast, faint spices and hops. Flavour of sweet malt along with some alcohol, yeast and spices and a dry/bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. It’s alright but it’s a little dull, a decent Belgian Ale.

(Re-rated on 6/9/07. Numbers are almost the same, just gave one extra point for flavor. Added a bit to the description). Bottle. Color is dark amber. Big long-lasting head. Aroma is malt, some caramel and dark fruits. Flavor is sweet with malt, spices, caramel, some dark fruits and an alcoholic edge. Some nice bitterness in the finish. Medium to full body with a very pleasant mouthfeel. Great complex beer.

This beer will always be on my list of "most wonderful aromas". Pours out a cloudy amber with bright orange hues. A firm off white head builds, excellent retention. Aroma is so welcoming it’s not even funny. Chocolate, marzipan, toffee, nuts, big apricot, tropical fruits(kiwi, passionfruit), bold yeast and assorted spices. Aroma is to die for. Flavor is lovely as well, just not quite as amazing as the nose. More of the same with a focus on sweet malts, yeast and spices, nutty too. Palate is excellent, never too sweet or full, really is awfully easy to drink. Finishes with a provocative melange of dry citrus and sweet malt. A very well done beer, bravo.

Very nice. Good nose, yeasty, a little malty. Lovely ont he tongue, without an indication of how strong it is in alcohol. Big bubbles, so be patient young grasshopper, for it to settle down. It’s worth the wait. One of the better belgian blondes I’ve met...
