Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Bottle. White lasting head. Careful when you pour it. Unclear orange body. Fruity hospital like aroma. Sweet fruity malt flavor.

Cloudy amber body. Yeasty sweet caramel aroma with spicy green hops at the end. Spicy orange and caramelly yeast flavor finishes with smokey malt and spicy hops.

BCA (BBE 2006, from Bitter Virtue). I dont normally mind floaters too much but this beer went too far - large globular almost jelly like chunks throughout. Pale malts flavours with a hint of caramel, biscuits. There is also supporting spiciness (pepper and coriander) and sultanas. A little sweetness and alcohol - not too much - but the body ends up being a bit easy going. The mouthfeel is again spoiled by the floaters which were quite noticeable and had an unpleasant softly squidgy texture. Could have been better without the primordial ooze but not great.

Thanks to MIBRomeo for sharing this one. Pours a chunky hazy orange. Aroma is spices, banana. Flavor is like a belgian Hefe. Tasty. Easily drinkable, best ADR I’ve had.

Pours to a hazy amber body with very nice creamy milken white head. The aroma is minerally, sweet and fruity, spicy, light black pepper. The flavor is much like the aroma. The mineral qualities come to the foreground. A light banana quality is present. Some subtle gingerbread. I like all the beers from Abbaye des Rocs. Oh so good. The palate is minerally, lightly dry, refreshing, medium bodied.

Thanks to Chuck for the sample! Has a nice cloudy light brown body, with a VERY LARGE foamy white head (I poured it after someone else had opened and taken a sample, and there was a nice "column of foam" coming out of the bottle, like a snake firefwork). Has a nice subdued aroma, slightly spicy and hoppy. Flavor is kind of watered down, but has a noticable yeast and carmel flavor to it. Body is OK. Overall, it’s an interesting beer, but I don’t think I would try it again.

Pours a golden color w/ brown hughes, and a full thick white head, w/ some thick lacing. Big belgian yeast and sweet bread aromas w/ a note of alcohol and some light fruity style hop aromas. Palate is fairly well carbonated decent coating, fairly avg. Flavor has a mineral essence definate belgian yeasts, bread dough, hitns of bannanna too. Pretty good, but a bit odd.
