Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Bottle. Dark golden with a fine head. Aromas of dried fruits, caramel and alcohol. On the palate the beer is heavy, sweet and actually a bit cloying after the first two mouthfulls. As a big fan of l’Abbaye des Rocs I am a bit disappointed by this one.

Bottle: Aroma of fruit, caramel, yeast, alcohol, and cleaner aroma. Pours a hazy amber with some sediment. Big soapy white head with excellent retention. Lightly sour up front. Finish is really off. Chemically, cardboard, and alcohol. Something is off with this beer. Very disappointing.

(Bottle 75 cl) Orange golden, hazy ale with a thick creamy head. Incredible fruity aroma. Very, very aromatic but at the same time almost suffocatingly sweet. A beer that should definitely be enjoyed in small quantities. 140604 and 061297

Amber with small golden head. Lots of sediment. The aroma has a lot of yeast and a hint of alcohol. Sweet spicy taste with a lot of yeast. Dry aftertaste with a small hint of a acicid flavor.

A slightly murky dark reddish amber with a vigorous head that subsides into a thin coating and fine lacing. The aroma is tart, fruity and subtly hoppy. The flavor is similar, with caramel, hops and surprisingly for a 9% beer is pleasingly dry.

750ml. Phenominal brew! Golden ambre color and surprisingly clear with large yeast floaties. Super thick rocky head that lasts forever. Big floral spicy Belgian aromas and a bit grassy. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Great Belgian flavors, yeast, hops, malt, peppery. Overall a world class brew!

Bottle: Dull golden, hazy, copious carbonation, rocky white head, sticky lacing.   Spicy nose, yeasty, slightly earthy/musty with a hint of plastic intertube.   Soft peppery flavor, bready, but also a medicinal plastic sorta twang.   Great body, full, with a fairly thick mouthfeel.   Slightly spritzy on the finish, lingering breadiness, but it doesn’t shake that odd smell/taste.   Actually, it comes across as stale intertube air!   Good thing it isn’t much stronger or else this brew would be ruined.
