Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Bottle. Copper colored beer with huge, creamy head with excellent retention. Wonderful aroma of chewinggum and apples.Sweet, malty, light flavor with perfumy notes and complex, almost artificial flavor. It is heavily carbonated. An elegant and complex beer, that is almost too much goodness at once.

This is a real gem. Full rich and heavy nose, beautiful head, lasting a while. Lots of spices and somewhat fizzy, great brew.

Soapy nose. almost like detergent or some cleaning fluid. Pours mildly cloudy, very fizzy with a thick head. Spices permeate every tastebud. peppery is the best adjective. Very bitter, some floral hops in there too. Commercial description is dead on.

A light cloudy amber color with lots of bubbles. A huge slightly off white head. The aroma is sharply sweet and spicy. Peaches, apples and nutmeg dominate. fascinating tangy aroma. The taste is ginger and apples. A nice bready backbone with some vanilla and caramel. A weak vinous hint. While this has these almost candy notes, it is only a little sweet. Similar to a golden delicious apple. ADR continues to impress me.

amber and cloudy. thick foamy head and sheet lacing. Odd aroma. Reminds me of vodka. Some citrus, cloves and yeast as well. The flavor is very similar with lots of alcohol sourness.Tart and tangy palate with a fruity finish.

Pours a two-finger pillowy cream head leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Nose is sweet raisins. Starts and finishes sweet very smooth. Malts and hops are very well balanced. The high ABV is not noticeable. $2.95 for a 330ml bottle from Vintage Cellar Blacksburg, VA.
