Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Quite good. Hazy copper with a nice beige head. Appealing. Nose is yeasty and fruity. Some traces of chocolate and candy. The body and the carbonation were medium and complimented the beer. The flavor was nicely sweet and complex with trace elements of various fruit and some chocolate and that warm feeling of alcohol as it went down.

Bottle picked up in Belgium. Tasty strong Belgian, perhaps slightly sour as others have noted. It’s not up there with the regular Abbaye Des Rocs however.

Dark orange with a big head and holy Hurrican Ivan look at all the particles stirred up by the wind! Sticky lacing. Moderate spice aroma, with a sweet air and traces of alcohol. Spice particularly pepper in the front, alcohol climbs up the sensory chart leaving a dusty fruit and alcohol finish. Malty body with pepper on the tongue.

8 May 2004 - Intense spicy hop fruit malt aroma. Cloudy light brown colour. Sweet hoppy apricot malt flavour. Medium body and lingering hop taste.

Poured murky amber brown with a thick tan head...smelled of rasins, malts, and orchard fruits...malty and sweet in the mouth up front, but then citrus with a hoppy bitter finish...very delicious and quite busy in the mouth...

Lovely aroma of malts.. and oranges??? Huge beige head over amber body. Surprisingly American in flavour regarding hoppiness. A bit thin, but nice and refreshing.

Raisiny malts, Tootsie Roll, light fruitiness. Apple, cider, yeast. Dark orange-amber hazy, with huge chunks, almost nasty. Off-white foamy lacing head. Heavy body with medium-heavy carbonation. Heavy malty sweet start, raisin, candy sugar. Vapory and alcoholic. No acidity, dry figs, light bitter hops. Finish is bread, yeast, brown sugar. Sweet yeasty after.

Somewhat sickly cloudy amber color with a large white head. The aroma wasfull of lemon, grass, pepper, barnyard funk, and some apricot. The flavor was quite sweet with citrus (lemon mostly) and sugars...nutmeg, brown sugar, pepper, and funk in the aftertaste. The feel was medium thin and very spritzy...dry finish. Thanks Mike.
