Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Pours with one of the most amazing heads of foam I've seen - it's thick as hell and it lasts. Unfortunately it also pours with massive chunks of yeast which really annoys me. Pretty nice malty aroma with spices (nutmeg), pineapple, apple and a bit of mustiness. Light bodied with a spicy (pepper) flavour and loads of caramel/toffee, but it's kinda thin and has a taste that I would describe as dirty. Some alcohol perceptible. OK but not a standout.

Poured cloudy orange-amber with huge yeast chunks. Massive white bubble head with great retention and lacing. Pungent spicy sweet aroma of dried fruit and a touch of toffee. Smooth medium mouthfeel. Sweet caramel flavours along with raisins (or prunes?) at the start, with a suprisingly bitter but very spicy finish. Theres a touch of anise and an alcohol hit that lingers. Nice stuff.

33 cl bottle, served in Chimay goblet. Beautiful dark gold; impressive, stable head. Highly complex taste w/ a rich, delicate spiciness. Powerful. Fabulous mouthfeel, nicely prickly on the tongue and at the same time velvety smooth. Easy to drink. A superbly balanced beer; one of the best golden ales I've had.

Aroma of spices, licorice, raisins. Pours a cloudy orange, whiteish head. Fruity flavour, apricots, alcohol. Mild hop bitterness in the finish.

Malty, lots of flavour, a little sweet with a dominant but not overpowering alcohol taste. This stuff is great.

Murky copper in color with a thin off-white head. Aroma of toasted sweet bread, fresh baked cookies, warming alcohol, smoke and oak. Flavor is extremely alcoholic, bready and malty, but without the depth the aroma has.

Rocky off white head on a dark amber beer with a hint of purple. Good lacing all the way down. Cloudy with some particulate matter. Smells of caramel, candi, and raisin jump out of the glass. Also a great spiciness, cinnamon, clove, coriander, and nutmeg. Flavour is similar to smell, with some breadiness as well. Spices and stone fruit. A decently bitter finish quite unlike most Belgians I've had before. Very good.

Murky orange/brown color with a thin bubbled off-white head. Huge gingerbread, caramel, aroma with bits of licorice. Sweet taste doesn't really match up to the aroma.
