Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured hazy orange color with a large frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma was complex sweet yeast and citrus. Medium sticky body with thin particles and soft carbonation. Medium sweet yeasty flavor with medium sweet with small alcohol bite finish. Good sweet complex brew.

(Rating #1894)

A hazy orange/amber colored beer, with a light beige thick foamy head. The aroma is nice fruity, toffee and caramel. There are some hops in the back. The taste is complex fruity, raisins, prune, pears, peaches, orange. It has a nice sweetness and a little bitter. In the back some yeast and hops. It has a dry aftertaste.

Bottle at Cambrinus, 6/21 in Bruges. Pours dark amber with minimal head. Aroma of caramel malts with additional notes of fruits. Taste is sweet, bnut not cloy. There is a lot of complexity on this beer, with additional notes of spice and wine. A very good beer from one of my favorite brewers.

750 ml bottle. A very hazy medium amber beer with a medium sized and fast disappearing white head. Overall malty and honeyish nose with hints of almonds, other fruits and a light spiciness. The flavour has again notes of honey and is bit too sweet for my palate, though I wouldn’t call it unbalanced. Quite complex. Some spicy and fruity hints, almost no alcohol felt. Medium to full body, lively carbonation , medium finish with light bitterness. Enouggh complex and flavourful, but abit too sweet and not at the same level of the Bruin. However pretty good beer.

Bottle from the Belgian Belly, Chorlton, Manchester. Brown, cloudy and with more floaty bits in than you can shake a stick at. Belting drink. Complex, cinnamon, sugar, dark fruits, peppery, raisins. Really enjoyed it.

Bottle at Kulminator. Copper-coloured with a medium tan head. Fruity aroma with hints of banana and oranges. Good bitterness as well as complex fruity flavours, mostly bitter oranges. Well-carbonated. Grows on you.
