The typical Beligan sour trade mark, but still a balanced ale. A bit too much alcohol content, I’d say, there are good English ales at 4% with as much flavour. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 26, 2003 This was a very enjoyable and drinkable Belgian Strong Ale. It poured a large sized ivory head that was creamy and frothy and contained fine-large sized bubbles that quickly dissipated. The body had fizzy carbonation, it was cloudy, yeasty, and it had an orange-amber hue. The nose was fruity, citrusy and some caramel. This beer's flavor was sweet, some sourness, caramel, alcohol and it was a bit sugary. The palate was very smooth, a bit dry, alcohol and light-medium bodied. There was no lacing observed with this beer. TheBeerGod (3177), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 12, 2004 Pours a orange amber with a medium whitish head. Nose is perfumy and laden with fruit and spice. There seems to be a robust floralness to it as well. The tongue is met with fruit, sugar, some lighter spice and a hint of flowers. Pleasantly smooth finish. Another good beer from Abbaye Des Rocs. RichardGretton (3167), Leicestershire, England
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2007 Bottle. Light brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is strongly mulled fruit, and the flavour is soft, fresh and fruity mulled. Overall a very good beer. PorterPounder (3148), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Orlando, Fl. - Knightly Spirits, 750 ml capped bottle. Pours a dark murky orange, quickly fading off-white head, with an overabundance of floaties - you can actually chew them - a tad disconcerting. Molasses, dates, and raisins in the aroma, a hint of chocolate. Flavor is decidedly sweet and malty. Hints of prunes, dates and molasses. Chocolate and toffee permeate the back end, a touch of maple syrup and apricots finishes it off. Thickish mouthfeel, but it loses a bit of its luster when you have to chew your way through the floaties. Overall decent, just a bit too sweet. ogivlado (3108), Zagreb, Croatia

Nice amber coloured, pale beige creamy head. Sweet malty, very fruity (orange, plum, raisin) and mild spicy aroma with notes of toffee, dark chocolate and yeast. Mild alcoholic and dry finish. hughie (3091), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Big, gassy head and cloudy old-gold colour. The aroma was yeasty and citric, possibly lemon curd, but there were other notes too: once I caught something vegetal. Tomatoes or marrow, perhaps. The flavour was orange marmalade: sweet with a mid-bitter finish. Slightly too much fizz for me. A very good beer from l’Abbaye des Rocs, though I preferred their Altitude.
