Commercial Description:
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

Hazy amber orange, moderate head with very good lacing and retention. Aroma is huge orange peel with yeasty funk, caramel, lesser notes of other fruits. Medium to full body, somewhat sweet, alcohol hidden well. Very enjoyable, first ’real’ Belgian I’ve had in a while. Doesn’t have the oomph for me to give it a 4/5 though.

750 ml bottle enjoyed@GrOve’s. Fingerthick white cream head. Shiny golden-orange body with lots of sediments floating around. Inviting Belgo-yeast aroma; acidulous with dried tropical fruits, ripe citrus and flowers. Some caramel and yeast. Taste is deliciously sweet and fruity. Light caramellish and yeasty with some acidity. Soft mouthfeel. Almost full-bodied. Yum!

Bottled, 0.33cl. It pours unclear, golden-brown, with floaties and a huge, lasting beige head. Quite a lot comes out of the bottle on its own. Complex aroma with tea, sugar, dried fruits, hints of roasted malt and alcohol. The flavor is sweet and maltym with dried fruits, spices and hints of alcohol. Full-bodied, and a finish with alcohol, sweetness and spices. Nice beer, but not a rave. Would like to sample it again though. (061027)

Delicious aroma without standing out in any way. Fantastic orange colour with super head which unfortunately doesn’t lasts. Tons of sediment in the beer. Taste is superior, fruity and delicious, with lots of bitterness in the aftertaste. Quite a beer.

Bottled (BBE 2006)
Hazy orange color, huge brownish head - very Orval-like. Floating yeast particles. Fruity (mango, pine-apple) and hoppy nose mixed with lemon. Peppery, chewy malty, medium to full-bodied. Dry, woody aftertaste - suprisingly lacking potential kick of alcohol, just slightly bitter aftertaste. Very good but less complex than expected.

In the bomber bottle at the 2006 Crescent Moon Extreme Beerfest. Pours light amber with a thin head. Has a pronounced butterscotch aroma with a bit of raisins thrown in. Reminds me of Yankee cider in the aroma department. Roses. Definitely roses in the aroma. The flavor has a big sweetness with some apricot. I get caramel goodness as well. The long caramel finish is like drinking candy.

Bottle. Hazy orange coloured with floatiea and a huge off white head. Sweet aroma dominated by fruits and spices. Sweet flavour of fruits and spices with notes of dried fruits, yeast and hops.
