This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

From 750ml bottle. Orange and golden color with thick white head, some floaties. Citric aroma, apricots and flowers. Spicy body, fruits (apricot and pear), medium weight. Finishes a bit thin and dry. Good overall, though nothing too remarkable for the style.

Bottle at home in London with JP - sourced from Beermerchants. Opens with a pop and appears to be a slow gusher; but tonight I’m on my game and get the pour going in time. Alas, there are many floaty bits in this amber-orange beer - which also has a surprisingly weak, foamy off-white head. The nose holds strong notes of butterscotch, toffee, stewed fruits, candi sugar, Belgian yeast, berries. Big sweet flavor, fairly sticky, with some sturdy fruit character, bready malts, toffee, meaty dates, slight grain husk. Medium bodied with average, active carbonation; the spritliness of the bubbles definitely lifts the palate. Lightly warming finish with some yeast character, esters, more berries, ripe and lightly dried fruits, hearty bread, more toffee. Nice beer, just nothing to lift it above the pack.

Colore ambrato molto torbido, principio di gushing e molto fondo in sospensione. Odore caramelloso, burroso, fruttato. Sapore dolciastro, caramelloso, molto corposa. Alcool nascosto bene.

Jaune brumeux avec un grand col beige. L’arôme est fort des fruits avec assez de sucre. Le goût est du malt léger les fruits et un amertume doux dans la finale. Très bonne mais pas mal sucré.

Looks amber/light brown. Pour with a small and disappearing head. Smells caramel bread. Light bodied, light bitterness. A good beer.

Bottle. BB 01.09.2016. Amber body with lots of floating sediment. It doesn’t settle down even after waiting. Does not look good. Medium head. Aroma has sourish hops and yeast. Not as delicate as the Brune’s aroma. Sweet appley flavour with caramel. Finish has apples that have just started to ferment. Where is the complexity that they managed to put into the Brune? Compared to that it’s a big disappointment.

Hazy orange, medium beige head. Nose is malts, fruit, some booze. Flavor is fruity sweetness, caramel, lots of malt, hints at oranges. Mild bitterness in the finish with spice notes, oranges and herbal notes. Lingering alcohol warmth. Medium body, medium carbonation. Hides the alcohol fairly well.
