COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer, robust in taste and strength (9%) is the tops for flavour. It has a fruity and spicy bouquet, it has a stark taste, between a sharp bitterness and a caramelised flavour. It has no sugar, and this pure malt beer oscillates between various tendencies which all round off the bitterness. It has a peppery taste at the back of the mouth and a sharpness on the tongue. It is active in the mouth and lets each flavour express itself individually. It is very active in the glass which gives it a full, lasting, head. It has a long conclusion and puts emphasis on an ever present bitterness but less supported by the caramel. The final impression is one of gingerbread without sugar.

From 750ml bottle. Orange and golden color with thick white head, some floaties. Citric aroma, apricots and flowers. Spicy body, fruits (apricot and pear), medium weight. Finishes a bit thin and dry. Good overall, though nothing too remarkable for the style.

330ml bottle poured in a Chimay chalice. A: Pours an orange to amber cloudy color. Forms a huge white to beige fluffy and creamy head. An alive beer: As the foam grows, the top vanish making a fizzy sound, impressive. In the end, only few lacings are left S: Smell is veeery fruity in the beginning. Dark fruits, mainly plums and raisins. Caramel malts, candy, honey, the traditional Belgian Abbaye des Rocs trademark yeasts. Mild citrus hops and alcohol T: As the nose: Dark fruits, candy, sweet malts, honey, earthy yeasts, brown bread. A sweet upfront and a mild citrus hoppy aftertaste. Completely balanced sweet-bitterness. With the natural hints of alcohol M: Deliciously creamy body. Molasses. Medium carbonation. Sweet upfront and mild citrus and bitter aftertaste O: Traditional Abbaye des Rocs beer specimen, I mean, an authentic well done Belgian strong ale. Very tasty with drinkability limited only by its high ABV. Recommended [ BA Review @ 12/29/2011 ]

The beer pours a light copper colour, murky, with a very thin white head. Aroma is tart fruit, funk, yeast, and some fruit notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet, yeasty, with some tart funky notes in the mix. Not on par with the better Abbaye des Rocs BSAs.

330ml bottle ordered through Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Partially gushing bottle pour. Hazy, apricot coloured body, Slim, white head. Poor lacing. Dried fruity nose with a touch of almond. Spiced dried fruits and caramel flavours. Mid-sweet fruity ending joined by warming alcohol. Well bodied. Very sweet, but alright as a long lasting sipper (Tromsø 18.09.2014).

In bottle (from Brussels); pours a clear amber ... very easy drinking amber. Somewhat caramelly with a little sweetness. Quite light for the 9%. I quite enjoyed this amber .. I would buy again.

Brown lightly opalescent colour with a long lasting frothy lightly tan head. Noses of dark fruits, spices and hay. The texture offers a light fizz with a medium body. Flavours of caramel, fruits, malt, spices and a hint of pepper develops. Lightly sweet with some bitterness to it. The finish is medium.

33cl bottle. Dark copper colour with a lot of floating sediments (even served with care) and a thin off-white lacing. Liquorice, caramel and spicy aroma. Average to soft carbonation and medium body. Taste is slightly more sweet than bitter with a long sweet caramelized finish. Overall, a nice brew but too sweet for me.

2014/08/31 - Pours a hazy amber-brown colour with a thick, foamy, off white head that quickly dissipates and leaves minimal lacing. Lots of suspended particulate present. Aroma is yeast, apples, plumbs, caramel, sweet liquor and gingerbread. Taste follows nose; apples, plumb, sweet caramel, yeast, mild gingerbread and sweet liquor. Body is full with smooth carbonation and a sweet and warming boozy finish. Not too shabby, but nothing spectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
