rickgordon (3004), Göteborg, Sweden May 6, 2008 Bottled. Delirium Café I believe, Brussels.
Cloudy amber colour, with huge chunks all over the glass. Prune and the likes are very prominent here. Not very complex, but damn tasty. Malty and chewy.
Panzerfaust (374), Santiago, Chile Jul 17, 2008 Bottled at Eurohappy. Expensive One, labeled as Abbaye des Rocs Nounette
Pours a clear orange color, beautiful with a slight haze and lots of particles floating. Head is medium, white, lasts for a while and leaves a thin film.
Aroma is fruity, yeasty with additional spices and faint hops. I smell a Belgian Hefe-Weizen? Lots of banana aromas joined by whiffs of vanilla, peach melba and aniseed. Pleasant, but straight-forward, weizen aroma.
Flavor is nice, sweet-ish and cereally-fruity with notes of banana, banana candy and chewing gum, aniseed, tropical fruits like papaya and mango and fruit salad. Solid, tasty. Again, Weizen flavors but much more intensified.
Palate is light to medium. Smooth creamy texture, rather simple, refreshing and easy to drink. Good aftertaste. If this is a Tripel it’s the most seasonal tripel I’ve ever tried. A crisp Blonde that tastes like a Weizen on Steroids with some Wit characteristics. ansermadide (145), Kyle, Texas, USA Jul 15, 2008 (11.2oz bottle from Yellow Store on July 13, 2008, split with weeAnaP) Yellow label, "Brasserie des Rocs Blonde". Awesome cloudy golden orange color with wonderful floaties! Aroma of grain and spice. Insanely lively! Yeast, grain, hops, a heavenly taste. Thin, but dense. Easy going down and no aftertaste. Much like a Duvel, but better in my opinion.
RSRIZZO (945), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jun 28, 2008 Aroma is a sweet fruity yeast and honey scent with a faint skunk in the back. Color is a deep gold with large chunks of sediment floating around. Carbonation is good with a nice thick tight head in top. Taste is bitter and fruity. Starting with a lighter medium body it goes down with a fizzy feel. Finish comes on with a sour tang that is followed by a slightly fruity yeast flavor then ends with a sharp bitterness. After taste is just more bitterness. Its just not that good, I’m a little disappointed in this brewery the Grand Cru was good but this and the Brune are not. kidmartinek (652), austin, Texas, USA Jun 20, 2008 Pours golden, bright yellow a little cloudy with a lot of white foam. Aroma is musty, yeasty and old. Flavor is belgian yeast, a little sweet, doughy, and earthen. Mouthfeel is fizzy and carbonated. Finish is fizzy but smooth. djd07 (317), Houston, Texas, USA Jun 7, 2008 Updated: Jun 8, 2008Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange golden color with a small white head that diminshes quickly. The aroma is citrus and spicy hops. Decent lacing on the glass. A lot of yeast chunks floating in the beer. The taste is sweet and has a dry finish. A good tripel from Brasserie
