Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada Dec 12, 2005 Clear amber colour with lasting beige head. Medium carmel malt nose. Medium sweet malt taste with lingering malt finish. Hansen (2235), Randers, Denmark Dec 3, 2005 Dark brown, big head, lasting. Spicy and sweet aroma. Flavor is sweet, hints of dark fruit and laqurice. harrisoni (6704), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 24, 2005 Bottle at Kulminator. Deep ruby/brown colour with thin tight tan head. Smack of bitter choc, some mustiness and dark fruits (damsons, dark plums etc). Bit like Rochefort 8. Quite good in mouth with softish feel and more complex fruit flavours. Very good indeed. HazelRah (276), Summerland, British Columbia, Canada Nov 6, 2005 Syrupy sweet aroma. Flavour is especially caramel, warming and with a little spice. Smooth, but I’m not blown away by the palate. Magicdave6 (5400), London, Greater London, England Oct 18, 2005 No#53. We seemed to go through quite a bit of abbaye des rocs stuff while we were there. The aroma is fruity with quite a bit of spice in there, some woody notes too. The taste is very similar with an alround good sweeness which makes for an excellently balanced beer. veronika (410), Sweden Aug 8, 2005 Red/brown with a lot of yeast. Nice creamy head. Nutty toffee aroma with figs and some banana. Flavor is nutty, with sweet fruits, some toffee. Creamy finish. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Jul 30, 2005 (Bottle at Delirium Cafe, Brussels)Amber with lots of yeast in it. Lasting offwhite head. Aroma is malty with vanilla and toffee notes. ALso fruity with grapes, apples, peach and pear. Very good malty flavor with fruits, vanilla, toffee and nuts. Great palate, strong but without too much alcohol coming through. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 15, 2005 (Bottle 75 cl) Deep reddish brown with a fine, beige head and some lacework. Dry, roasted nose with some spiciness. Lovely full-bodied and malty beer with an incredibly complex palate that brings notes of port wine to memory. Believed to be the standard Abbaye des Rocs with a higher proportion of dark 6 chocolate malts. 310599
