In bottiglia. Bottiglia sfortunata

dough, earthy, (dare i say doughnut?) hazy cloudy amber colour body with no head, strong yeasty brown sugarthing going on with an effervescent tingly aftertaste. i see the good reviews and think really its just weird?

Bottle from Wine of Galilee in Tallinn. Opening the bottle makes the foam slowly but surely rise out of the bottle - better pour it quick. Dark brown colour with a hue of mahogany or chestnut. Loads of sediment. Head is massive, creamy, retains extremely well without much lacing. Nose is caramel and brown sugar, dark malts, dark fruits, subtler notes of vanilla, toffee and chocolate, a bit of mintiness even. Taste seems more alcoholic than that of the Brune, but as sweet and caramelly, and that sweetness is quite intense and sugary, coupled with very little bitterness in the finish. Body medium plus, carbonation thin but active, palate soft but a bit grainy, with a dry malty finish. Alcohol nearly non-detectable. Overall it’s almost as good as the Brune, but somehow feels less complex, and more straightforwardly sweet. Still very good though!

330ml bottle. Hazy copper color. Chunky crap in the bottle despite of sitting in the fridge for weeks. Small size, yellow head, stays. Caramel, sweetish, dusty, clove?, chocolate in aroma. Metallic, yeast, caramel in taste. Sweet caramel in aftertaste. Absolutely stale. Feels bit old, but BB is 10/2015. Alcohol is well hidden.

Brune classique, effervescence moyenne-légère, col beige crémeux. Malts bien torréfiésmais pas trop, légèrement réglissée, fruits noirs assez présents, un peu de sucre candi, un rien de moka et d’épices, chaleur d’alcool présente.

75cl bottle from Abbot’s Ale House in Cork, a cloudy dark beer with a fairly thin head. Nice sweet and malty taste with dark fruits like prune and raisins, also brown sugar and a hint of vanilla. Very nice easy drinking beer despite its 9% and plenty of sediment. Would have again but I do prefer their brune.

Currently I am updating my ratebeer with al the beers I drank but was too lazy to rate at the time. I give the scores I gave back than. If I drink the beers again I might re-rate them.

Garrold (2340) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2014
Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Hazy, dark red. Thin, lasting, tan head. Looks fantastic in a Delirium Noel glass. Brown sugar. Light, grassy hop. Dark, vinous fruit. Hazelnuts. Bit of vanilla. Taste is sweet. Turns roasty dry. Nice, soft, smooth, airy palate. Finishes fruity sweet. Toasty dry close. Very nice, but too much on the sweet side to warrant a big rate.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a hazy dark ruby color and a nice cream colored head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is complex with tones of roasted malts, spices and the sweetness of dried fruits such as plums. Also a hint of alcohol and some vanilla. The taste is pretty dry and hoppy for this beer, to change into a nice fruity sweetness with also a little warming alcohol. A satisfying finish is initially quite stern and dry with mineral notes, warmed by alcohol and a subtle background sherried sweetness.
