4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Nose is yeast, cloves, brown sugar, a little not , cinnamon and spice; perfect for the style.
Taste is brown sugar, belgian yeast, brown bread, rich plums, leading to light cloves and cinnamon and spice. It’s quite dubbel like and very sippable, but it lacks in the finish a bit.
Moutfeel is sticky.
A very nice festive beer which is quite dubbel like in nature.

Hazy brown with creamy head. Aroma is malty, dark fruits, caramel. Taste is plum, caramel, malt, cake all moderate and ballanced. Very nice but somehow I expected even more or maybe I am getting spoiled

Bottle 750ml @ home
Pours hazy deep amber with floaties and a off-white head. Aroma has notes malt, caramel, dried fruits, yeast, alcohol and a hint of chocolate. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long warm, dried fruity and caramel finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

330ml bottle poured in a chalice.
A: An alive beer! As you open it, it wants to jump out the bottle :). Pours a dark amber to brown color. Very dirty, traditional des Rocs style with many chunks floating around. A huge beige head is formed when its poured, however, the retention is medium. It dissipates leaving a thin tan layer on top. Very few lacings left. Beautiful Belgian Strong Dark Ale
S: Sweet on the nose. Brown bread and Belgian yeasts are a must. Reminds the Brune version. Dark fruits, mainly raisins, caramel, malts, wood and alcohol. Very reach on smell
T: Sweet caramel malts, Belgian yeasts, brown bread, dark fruits (raisins), spices. Molasses and syrupy. Mild bitter end. Complex on taste. Delicious
M: Full body, creamy and molasses. Reasonable carbonation. Great sweet-bitterness balance. Warming with a bit alcoholic end
O: Abbaye Des Rocs = Quality Belgian trademark beer

The beer poured a dark murky reddish-brown with a half inch tan head that lasted throughout. The aroma was plums, yeast, bread, and sugar. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt, molasses, dark fruit, sugar, and yeast.

750ml bottle. @home 31-08-2014.
BBD: 20/11/2011. Vintage one.
In short: a sweet boozy dark ale.
Pours hazy dark copper, lots of sediment, with average tan head. Moderate head retention, poor lacing. Ripe fruit, raisins, chocolate, caramel aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, some crispy texture. Taste follows the nose, some liquor notes, alcohol noticed, ripe fruit, caramel notes, viscous texture. Still enjoyable.
