tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 11, 2008 Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, GregClow, and Garthicus, courtesy of Harry. Dark brown, small white head. Caramel aroma, some alcohol, light spices - nice. Good taste - more caramel and malt, alcohol, rather sweet and spicy. Very good yet surprisingly very drinkable as well at this alcohol percentage. garthicus (1216), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 7, 2008 HogTownHarrys bottle, shared with GregClow, Blankboy and Tupalev. Appearance: Floaties, red rusty colour, small head. Aroma: Alcohol, caramel & All spice. Flavour: Hmm, flat, dull and some winter fruit. I did not really care for it but thanks for sharing Harry! bonfunck (149), Waasmunster, Belgium Dec 3, 2008 33cl bottle from hop duvel @ ghent
a very pleasing noise, very good beer, very complex taste Straling (185), Heerlen, Netherlands Dec 1, 2008 Bottle 33cl.
Pours a dark ruby murky colour with a small head and little carbonation.
Very fruity smell, lot’s of sweet fruits there mixed in with some spices and raisins.
Taste is also very sweet and fruity, can taste several fruits such as oranges, apples and vaguely some caramel.
Very well balanced christmas beer with a good nice warmth when going down. wyzzywyz22 (756), Wirral, Merseyside, England Nov 27, 2008 Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. Easy there santa...lost a chunk of this all over the work surface as this exploded in to life. Strange looking grey tinged dark cloudy brown colour with a fair amount of sediment floating around. Aroma was spicy with some malt and dark fruit. Similar flavour which was sticky sweet and slightly cloying. Balance not quite there. Thought this would be a lot better; a let down. Scauca (408), Lovere, Italy Nov 27, 2008 Little hazy brown with a huge yet disappearing beige head. Sweet malty, spices, caramel, yeasty. Same could be said for flavours. I’d expect more. No traces of the crazy complexity of their brune. Fin (3385), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Nov 20, 2008 Bottle that Loz’s parents picked up for me recently whilst in Bruges, consumed erly Nov’ 2008. Pours very dark brown with a creamy tan head, poured quite lively as well. Lovey soft yeasty spiciness, nice dark sticky fruits and loads of dark molassess, lovely beer. BartC (398), Lichtaart, Belgium Oct 12, 2008 At the Kulminator Antwerp. Dark beer with a small head. Fruity aroma: dark fruits like raisins and plums. I find these in the taste as well. Also a bit of chocolate and caramel. Notes of alcohol at the end.
