In the winter you can have good surprises... a very good beer looking like the Brune from the same brewery.

Swaroga (1116) - Brussels, BELGIUM - MAR 14, 2014
Butelka 33cl. Mocno nasycone i oleiste.

33cl bottle. APPEARANCE: dark brown beer, small stable beige head. NOSE: malts, caramel, gingerbread, dried fruits, raisins, burned malts for that matter. TASTE: sweet, burned malts, fruity, again same dried fruits, taste is recognizable with the ’Brune’, same herbs sort of mix present. Pleasant and good beer, but the ’Brune’ was better.

750 ml bottle from beer-shop.it served in a Teku glass. Deep dark copper/almost brown, quite hazy, with an average light beige head. Long lasting and good lacing. Powerful aroma, dominated at first by light booze notes, than a fantastic bouqet of different dark fruits, winter spices, some roasted/meaty presence, burnt caramel and medicinal herbs. The alchool completely disappear in the mouth, leaving just a pleasent warming sensation down the throat. Perfectly balanced and elegant, sharing some dubbel qualities, but more dry and less sweet. Long and spicy afertaste. Average to lively carbonation, on the higher side of medium body, and oily texture. Should be trated as a sipper, being so complex and changing a bit every 5 minutes! I’d love to try a 5+ year old bottle one day.

Pours amber with a good head but a fair amount of sediment (vigorous pour, but still). Apple and toffee on the nose with some sweet Christmas spice. Sweet malty caramel flavours with alcohol sweetness and heat coming through towards the end. Residual Christmas cake notes on the finish.

Donker bier wat niet lang blijft hangen. Smaak doet denken aan aardbei en kersen. Fruit overheerst. Daarnaast ietwat rooksmaak.

Shared a 33cl bottle from Cora (Luxembourg). Pours a brown colour with a thin tan head/lacing. Aroma is malt, caramel and light yeast. Average to low carbonation and medium body. Taste is light bitter and light sweet, well balanced. Overall, a tasteful beer with a bit alcohol.

Bottle 0.33L. Dark brown body with a large, creamy, tan head, mostly lasting with nice lacing. Moderate-to-heavy malty (roasted, caramel) and moderate hoppy (orange) aroma with notes of red fruits (cherry), raisins and spices. Moderate-to-intense sweet flavour with light-to-moderate bitter character and light acidity. Medium-to-full body with creamy texture; lively carbonation; some light alcoholic feeling in the finish.

StoutHead (483) - DENMARK - JAN 5, 2014
Bottle. Pours clear-ish red with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is sweet and caramel-y. Taste is of malt, spices, dark fruits, molasses, bread and yeast. Very sweet and very smooth. Has a bit of a hop-bitter aftertaste. Full bodied. Medium carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden but does appear in the finish. Empty your bottle in one go or you’ll get a lot of yeast in the second pour. Very drinkable.

Torrefacto (379) - SPAIN - JAN 2, 2014

Very murky appearance with lots of yeast particles. Deep red towards brown colour, medium head. Fruity, spicy and malty aroma, sweet and sour, very good balance. Alcohol is amazingly well hidden. Grand seasonal winter beer.
