Pour dark brown, with a huge white head. Aroma of plums, dates, caramel, slight bready stuff as well. The taste is rather sweet upfront, with some balancing bitterness to it. Medium bodied, with a nice mellow and smooth carbonation. A very nice "christmas" beer indeed. 3

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Hazy, dark red. Thin, lasting, tan head. Looks fantastic in a Delirium Noel glass. Brown sugar. Light, grassy hop. Dark, vinous fruit. Hazelnuts. Bit of vanilla. Taste is sweet. Turns roasty dry. Nice, soft, smooth, airy palate. Finishes fruity sweet. Toasty dry close. Very nice, but too much on the sweet side to warrant a big rate.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer has a hazy dark ruby color and a nice cream colored head, with a lot of bubbles. The aroma is complex with tones of roasted malts, spices and the sweetness of dried fruits such as plums. Also a hint of alcohol and some vanilla. The taste is pretty dry and hoppy for this beer, to change into a nice fruity sweetness with also a little warming alcohol. A satisfying finish is initially quite stern and dry with mineral notes, warmed by alcohol and a subtle background sherried sweetness.

33 cl. bottle poured in to a Trappist glass. Dark amber colour with a lightly tanned creamy head. Sweet aroma with dark, dried fruits, rich caramel malts, yeasts, candid sugar, earthy and floral hops, some spiciness. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and an average carbonation. Long lasting slightly dry finish with dark, dried fruits, yeasts and spices. Nice Belgian, lacks a bit superior complexity compared to the best trappists.
