4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 CaptainCougar (6833) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - DEC 21, 2004
Pours a rich dark magogany with a frothy and well-lacing light tan head. Aroma boasts plenty of thick sweet caramel and bready Belgian yeast. Starts with good viscosity and molten caramel flavor laden with brown sugar, molasses and a touch of dark chocolate. Yeasty complexity shows itself toward the candi sugar finish. A nicely balanced dessert brew.

Murky muddy brown coloured body with a super-dense tan head. Aroma of pit fruit, caramel, toffee, coriander seed and some light hops. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong fruit flavour up front with pleasant malt. Musty flavours running through pretty well. Showing some hops and alcohol in the finish...pretty good! Overall, a nice beer-definitely not a tripel, but a great beer to find! I sampled this 75 cL bottle with jon[r888710] , purchased by me a day ealier from Whole Foods in Vienna, Virginia.

Reddish, muddy brown body with an enormous, thick head of root-beer-float-colored bubbles. Lots of floating yeast sediment. Smells of cheese, pit fruit, cinnamon. Taste is big and sweet, with pit fruits, toffee and caramels. Musty flavor with dusty basement, clove, anise, Aftertaste is pure Vick’s cloroseptic spray. Very weird, not so great but unique. Shared with jgb9348 out of a 750ml from Whole Foods in Vienna, VA.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 sloth (2101) - Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA - DEC 11, 2004
XL tan/light brown head, rocky, great retention and a lucious lacing that hangs on. Lightly hazy amber/brown color, lovely appearence. Full nose of caramel, fruits, breadyness and a bit of alcohol. Med/full body, nice texture, creamy and prickly at the same time. Big malts, dark fruits, buttery, caramelly. Very nice! Finish is fruity, creamy and lucious. An imperial Triple? Hmmmmm, tastey.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - DEC 3, 2004
UPDATED: DEC 11, 2004 750ml. bottle. I collect beer labels so I have the label from this bottle which MATCHES THE PICTURE OF THE BOTTLE SHOWN ON THIS SITE FOR ANYONE DOUBTING WHETHER I HAVE OR HAVE NOT RATED THIS BEER. This beer poured a huge ivory head on first pour and a frothy head on the 2nd pour. Carbonated, yeasty on the 2nd pour, hazy, and an orange brown hue. Malty, caramel, sweet, spicy, and alcohol aroma. Wonderful! But wait! The flavor is one to behold! Oh my gosh! Sweet, malty, caramel, and spicy. Makes me think I’ve died and gone to heaven! Absolutely wonder! More please! Tingly mouthfeel. What a great find in Indianapolis! If you enjoy BSA’s, like I do, this one you definitely must try!
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 heykevin (1269) - Decorah, Iowa, USA - DEC 1, 2004
Unpleasant flowery hop aroma. Same hop character as the regular ADR, and I just don’t care for it. Whatever hop variety this is just doesn’t sit well with me. Very sweet with straightforward dark sweet malt character. There’s nothing exciting going on here for me.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 BierBauch (784) - Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA - NOV 30, 2004
75clDark cloudy and brown with a massive head that lasts forever. Powerful malt aroma, sweet, candy-like, figs, dried fruit some alcohol. Full body that is sticky and slick. Flavor is really sweet with caramel, dried fruit, yeast and candi sugar. Nice but really sweet Belgian ale.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 5000 (4102) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - NOV 29, 2004
Bottle pours a VERY chunky brown, large tan foamy head, with so-so lacing. Sweet candy like aroma, perhaps butterscotch and candied fruit. Sweet, candied dried apricot on the tongue. Great body and mouthfeel, if you can get past the fact that there are corn flake sized bits floating in there. Long sweet finish, slightly astringent, but with more of that candied fruity flavor. YUM! A very unique and tasty triple.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 humulus (338) - Salem, Missouri, USA - NOV 28, 2004
Deep amber red with massive, obsene floaties that really push the limits of decency. Very candided flavor with interesting yeasts. Butterscotch and cave juice wherein the floaties resemble bat guano. Smooth, lubricated palate.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Syd (920) - Waconia, Minnesota, USA - NOV 26, 2004
Bottle pours a hazy amber red with a nice head and poetic Belgian lace. The aroma is quite inviting with sweetness and yeast showing itself. The flavor is very malty, caramel, spicy, and yeast. The palate is rich and cleansing. Overall, one fine BSA.
