Retorp (2156), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 6, 2007 Growler from Abbey. The aroma has some strong fruit notes that run to the tart side of the spectrum, noticeable alcohol, but not overpowering and an oddly citrus tinged aroma. The body is dark brown with copious orange accents and holds a pinky sized diminishing tan head. Sweet and fruiting in the fore with some grainy notes and fairly bracing alcohol. Again there is a this lightly tart citrus note that is unexpected, but somewhat appealing. The finish grows mildly bitter and hot with alcohol though it is the dry citrus-like sweetness that lingers the lingest. The closest thing I can compare it to is an orange liquer.
jjpm74 (3446), Connecticut, USA Aug 1, 2008 Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of figs, spice, dark fruit. Tastes thick and malty with lots of spicy hints, some dark fruit, hints of clove. Decent. daknole (1122), Plantation, Florida, USA May 6, 2008 Oh hell yes. This is a great beer brewed by a great guy. Certainly has aromas of candy and fruit. Very delicious. Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Apr 29, 2008 Murky purplish-brown. Fruity, bubblegummy nose. Deeply fruity - sour cherries, blackberry, some earthy notes. Stiff alcoholic finish. Big, chewy, fruity. Tmoney99 (3740), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 11, 2008 Draft at Abbey. Poured a dark brown color with an average creamy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced fair lacing. Medium to heavy complex yeasty and fruity aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Good complex bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet & sour finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew. mgumby10 (1651), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Mar 6, 2008 Pours a deep dark maroon color, with a small off white head. Smells very fruity, almost wine-like, with a good dose of cherries, apples, dark malts, rasins, and very subtle candy sugar. The flavor is heavy on the sweet fruit side. Wasnt expecting this at all. Its almost a fruit beer, unlike any quad Ive ever tried. The cherry really stands out as the most dominant flavor. Light alcohol burn in the finish, but not bad at all for 12%. Unusual quad, but quite enjoyable.
