bleeng (335), Spring near Beersel, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2008 This is brewed by Abbey Beverage in Pecos, NM-a monestary. On tap in Albuquerque. Served in their glass=nice. Light brown and filtered and a bit too cold. Nose is malts and sweetness-this has all the makings of a dubbel. Taste of malts, candi sugar, lightly spiced, alcohol is present but not overwhelming. Body is light and fluffy, very drinkable. Goes down very smooth and the flavors really come out after the beer warms up. Will search out this in bottle.
KAggie97 (2023), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Oct 25, 2008 Bottle from bleeng, shared at the October Houston tasting. Thanks!<br />Pours ice tea brown with an aroma of malty wheat bread. Flavor is Chex cereal and grain. Average mouthfeel. Not bad, but not especially good. MaltOMeal (353), Land of Sugar, Texas, USA Oct 21, 2008 bottle thanks to bleeng at October Houston Tasting. Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a thin white head. Nose is sweet and hoppy with some pepper. Taste is sweet malt and some spice. Mouthfeel is thin and watery. Unimpressive. clong83 (161), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Aug 22, 2008 Nice lasting head with some lace. Pours hazy and orange. Smells somewhat hoppy, but not too much. Taste is balanced between hops and a nice mild backdrop of malts. Has some spice and some fruit undertones. Not boring at all, but not particularly outstanding either. Harekr (4), Phoenix, Arizona, USA does not count Jul 7, 2008 From the Benedictine monastery in Pecos, made with care and prayer! A nicely hopped pale ale or light IPA. Pours orange, with a pleasant flavor of peppers and apricots. Nice, decent, but not great. I would bring some back next trip to NM though. KUEric (579), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Jul 7, 2008 On Tap at Two Fools in Nob Hill Albuquerque.
A deep dark belgian ale with a minimal head. It was heavily malty and quite belgian in look, feel and taste. Wasn’t overly impressed by it however.
