Nate (2291), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 17, 2006 Sampled at the State College BrewExpo. A decent porter. It was clean and crisp with nice dry roasted malts and just a tinge of coffee-chocolate sweetness. Medium brown in color with a thin tan head. Medium watery body with light to medium carbonation. Mild hops contribution until the finish, where that stands out a bit more with the dry roasty malts. Would like to find again.

Definitely a great taste, great look and great mouthfeel. Sammy (3240), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 6, 2007 Chocolate aroma, a round very dark chocolate colour with lace and a ring of a head. Medium mouthfeel, drinkable sweet but for coffee roast and very tart. Above average carbonation. Bittersweet aftertaste. One of their better ones. kramer (1956), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 16, 2007 On tap, 2007 Taming of the Brew. Pours a clear dark brown body under a one finger foamy light brown head that faded to a thin film. Aroma is more roasty than chocolaty with a moderate hop aroma and a little bit of a burnt note. Flavor is way to heavy on the roasted malt for a Porter to me. Very roasty with a slight hint of burnt malt, minimal chocolate malt, and a hoppy biting finish. Tasted blind I would have said that this was a Stout. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. A little bit of a grainy feel on the finish. All in all, I would have said that this was a decent Stout, but didn’t really cut it for me as a Porter. Phatz (225), Paradise, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 2, 2006 This review is from notes taken in State College. I look forward to more from Abbey Wright Brewery and especially more of this beer. It was extremely tasty and reminiscent of a St. Peter’s Old-Style Porter (one of my favorite beer). Abbey Wright Bittersweet Porter has a dominant roasty character in the smell and taste and a balancing hop element, giving it both bitter and sweet. It is a very smooth and easy drinking porter made by some great people I was honored to meet. Congratulations Abbey Wright! Keep up the good work.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers!
