Black to brown with a thin bubbly beige head. Nose is lively malty, sweet warming and some syrupy. Initial taste is baby powder, chalky, malt, some attacking bitterness. Espresso strength and more chalkiness in the palate. Little bit offensive, but on the whole, good. harrisoni (5109), Ashford, Kent, England Feb 6, 2008 Cask conditioned gravity, White Cliffs BF 08. Very very dark ruby, thin beige head. Rich toasty aroma, nice malts, choc, bitter espresso. But this is all about the lovely bitter choc in mouth. Rich dark bitter choc, with some hop on finish. Some dark fruits and strawberry jam. Ungstrup (11031), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 14, 2007 Cask at GBBF 2007. A dark amber-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malthy with strong notes of caramel as well as light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malthy with notes of caramel, alcohol, and roasted malt, leading to a finish where especially the caramel notes carries thru.
