Cask conditioned handpump Criterion Leicester. A near black ruby coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. An excellent Wintery beer. Fruity berries and clovey spices. Not overbearing spices. A really lovely smooth tasting satisfying beer.

Cask, Interval Cafe, Sheffield. Almost totally opaque brown, thick tan head. Dark chocolate and faint cherry aroma. Silky smooth with a balanced flavour, coffee bitterness on the finish.

Cask handpull, The Criterion, Leicester. Jeepers. had no idea this weighed in at 5.5%- no wonder the Christmas shopping got slightly derailed. Mahogany with a dense tan collar. Coffee and dank woodland floor aroma. Tastes like a slice of coffee cake; buttermilk, roast, soap. Bitter linger. Nut husk finish; light oiliness with the impression of warm milk. Disappointing by Abbeydale’s standards.
