Abbeydale have achieved that increasingly rare feat in British breweing viz a superb best bitter. It is traditional in style but has a lovely sweet hoppy finish. An excellent session bitter of the old school.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A copper coloured beer with a weak white head. A mild yet distinct bready aroma, it might be psychological because of the name! Cereal and malt aromas with hints of caramel. Dry mouthfeel. The taste follows on from the aroma, loads of cereal flavours, especially oats and malt, plus a slightly sweeter biscuity caramel flavour. The finish is malty and smooth.

Cask at the Magpie, mahogany with a thin head and a malty nose with faint red fruit notes. Body is lightly sweet and nutty, with a soft earthy and hedgerow hoppiness. A nice example of the style.
