A pale beer, made with fabulous Nelson Sauvin hops. Aromas of elderflower and grapes. Strong citrus flavours, especially grapefruit. Long lasting bitter finish. Very refreshing and packed full of flavour.

Cask. Clear yellow with a white head. Very fresh citrus notes in the nose - even grapefruit. Ah, now I see - Nelson Sauvin, yummy. Light-bodied, rather flat, fruity alright but completely dominated by the fresh aroma hops leaving a slight astringency. 220110

Cask @ Bon Accord. Unclear light golden colour, white head. Aroma is citric hops and biscuit malts. Flavour is light malted, citric hops, grapefruit, flowery. Refreshing and straightforward summer ale. Fairly bitter and dry finish. Good sessionable. Great stuff.

Cask, gravity, at The Pig’s Summer Beer Festival ’10, at the Pig and Falcon, St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Pale gold. Citric hop aroma. Grapefruit taste with some sweetness. Mid bitter finish. Standard hoppy golden of the type that has become tediously common in English summers.

Hand pulled at the Pub, Leicester. Soft, slightly grassy, mushy feel and flavour. Not much of anything here - neither pleasant, nor unpleasant. Slight soap and faint hop. Like bathing with hop soap and then eating the sponge and rinsing your tongue with the water from the shower head. Or perhaps like putting a cushion down your trousers. A bit of a grower actually. Peachy aroma. So much text from such an innocuous beer - perhaps I am impressing my own personality into the glass. The beer thus ends up a reflection of the drinker and is liked or disliked as such. Scarlet Johannson perhaps.

Halves and pints, The Flowerpot, Derby. Thought I’d had it before, so didn’t really bother rating it. Brilliant with a slim dying head. Lovely fresh flowery and tropical hop; background biscuit and honey, perfumey Earl Grey, then Darjeeling leafiness. Lemony hop and creamy biscuit above all. Best beer on a fairly exhaustive trawl of Derby.

Cask at The New Oxford, Manchester. A light golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and citrus. The flavor is light, but lovely hoppy lending it notes of elderflowers and citrus fruits on a lightly malty back ground, leading to a dry and bitter finish.

Cask (gravity dispense) at the Bricklayers Arms Yorkshire beer festival, February 2009. Pale gold. Definitely has that herbaceous gooseberry leaf Sauvignon Blanc aroma. Zesty citrus in the flavour with more gooseberry leaf. Mouthfeel a touch thin but quite tasty.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 19/1109. Clear gold in colour with a decent white head. Aroma of sweet malts, pineapple and a hint of elderflowers. Flavour had tropical fruits, grapefruit and seom sweetness before a dry finish. A decent golden ale.
