UPDATED: OCT 11, 2006 1. Cask Handpump at the Ship & Mitre, Liverpool 08/04/2004 Dark red slightly rich porter which was smooth on the palate and had a slightly dry roast finish. 2. Cask Stillage at Edgeley Park, Stockport 04/06/2004 ABV was up to 7.6% as apparently a bottle of port had been added to the brew! The tasting notes were very much as above only the added alcohol content gave it a lovely warming finish.

Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Black with tan head. Fruity, smooth with hints of liquorice and bitter cherry. Quite heavy on the palate, some notes of alcohol but not over strong. Pretty decent though just a touch challenging.

On cask at The Congress, Longton. 4.9% version. Pours dark with a red hue, tan head. A very bitter sweet start, the consistency is thick, hints of chocolate. Decent porter.

Hand pulled at the Swan and Rushes, Leicester. Dark black, opaque, with a slimline beige head. Smooth from start to finish. Unbelievable coffee flavour - espresso all the way! Rich on the intake, smooth coffee delivery on the finish. Slightly grainy, crackling, crunchy flavour. Really good stuff - concentrated flavour.

Black with a persistant beige head. Aromas are smooth chocolate with spices. Flavours are very smooth chocolate, velvet-like. Some Ovaltine malts. Like I said...smooth.
