COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Halvor India Brown Ale is brewed to commemorate Halvor’s 10-year anniversary as a bartender at Henrik Øl & Vinstove. What better way of doing this than getting your very own beer? A dark and titillating brown ale with loads of American hops and some dark Muscovado sugar to dry it out. A nice one, indeed

Pours clear reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, floral, coffee and hint of chocolate. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long roasted and coffee finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at Henriks. It’s an almost clear one, dark brown in color, and with a dense, beige head leaving lacings. Roasted aroma with nuts, bread and some grassy, piney hops. Roasted flavor with some chocolate and a nice hoppy bitterness. Full body, creamy on the palate. Roasted malts, coffee, hoppy bitterness and some chocolate in the end. Tasteful and nice, and easy drinkable. 140615

My Bottom Line:
Iodine and grassy bitterness subvert earthen roast and citrusy fruitiness in this puzzling India Brown Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam tops the dark brown.
-Don’t know if the upfront iodine character comes from an excessive use of peated malts, but if it doesn’t... then there’s a serious issue with this batch.
-Mild caramel is found under the roastiness.
-Mouthfeel is beautifully creamy and smooth.

On tap at Henrik Ol & Vinstove.

Small brown head. Clear deep dark red body. Perfumy fruity caramel aroma with floral (roses?) lacquer notes. Dry-sweet papery fruity linoleum taste with wooden lacquer notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish wooden plastic fruit aftertaste with spicy lacquer notes. Nice, drinkable, vivid. (0.2l draft at Henriks, Bergen.)

Small beige head. Deep dark red body. Fruity oily roasted almonds aroma with caramelly notes. Dry-sweet roasty caramelly dried fruit taste with oily perfumy wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, oily mouthfeel. Dry resiny caramelly roasty aftertaste with perfumy spicy lacquer notes. Spicy wooden roasted almonds flavour lingers. Lovely! Great harmony and drinkability with lots of character. (0.2l draft at Henriks, Bergen.)
