very thick and chewy. strong burnt flavour and bitterness, with the usual chocolate, coffee, malty taste. dark brown head, very black and opaque with some floaties. you can start to taste the alcohol towards the end.

Bottle, purchased at the same place I found the Hurlimann Hexenbrau so it probably has a couple years age on it. Opaque black, abundant and dense tan head. Aroma very similar to a good port. Very full body. Quite wine-like, although with some Starbucks-evoking roast and very subtle yet pleasant hops. It should be served close to room temperature; when fresh out of the fridge it’s somewhat unnervingly metallic. This does pass quickly, though. All in all an extremely good beer.

somewhere inbetween lion stout and a good australian "foreign" stout like southwark. it has the vanilla and the irish coffee aroma of lion, as well as the chocolate pudding and port flavour. the southwark part is some slightly industrial burnt bitterness and noticeable alcohol. good stuff

reminded me a LOT of southwark stout, only better. if i had to say what other beer it tasted like i'd probly start mentioning schwarzbiers. marmalade and cointreau in aroma, coffee, burnt malt, lots of smooth malt sweetness and an underlying hoppiness that never hits you with a wall of bitterness. only problem is the mushy boiled carrot aftertaste. nicely tarry and full of flavour without getting out of control. could definitely see it as a nourishing breakfast in singapore.

Can. In Singapore. Rich dark squid ink coloured, black body, with a rich tan-brown head. Sweet roasted malt aroma. I'd go along with nasullivan and say it has oily texture and mouth feel. The malts have been totally roasted and leaving the beer with a very bitter and alcoholic finish. A nice pleasant rate to pick up at 7.30am Singapore time but as you I'm sure you'd all agree every time is a good time for a rate.

This is a very oily pour with a slight head. Given the climate the glass should be chilled beforehand. The roasted malt is very prominent and masks the hop presence, which on tasting appears to be somewhat minimal. Big malt, big bitterness, I like it but I wonder how it could be popular on the equator. The potential for this beer to complement food in this part of the world is also doubtful. Most of the food in this country requires a beer like a Tiger.

Very dark brown with healthy mocha head--some lace...Aroma is mostly nice blend of roasted and sweet malts---hints of coffee as well...Flavor is roasty-sweet with very mild hopping and a little medicinal tang, reminiscent of molasses...Body is a little thin for a stout, and light feel is deceiving for the high ABV of this brew...But be assured you feel it toward the end of the bottle! This is not the last word in refinement, but is very respectable stuff, and it does have a considerable kick to it...Not bad...

Bottle. I had a couple of these while in Singapore. It had a creamy black color with a brown foamy head. The aroma had roasted malt, coffee, and was sweet (some sour milk smell). The flavor was roasted malt and bitter.

Opaque very dark red brown with large lasting brown head and light lace. Sensuous coffee, roasted malt and light chocolate aroma. Medium body with nice smooth but relativley thinnish palate for a stout. Medium bitter, strong coffee and light caramel and chocolate flavours. Medium bittersweet finish and aftertaste. Surprisingly good! High ABV extremely well masked considering the relatively low intensity of the bitter flavours.
