sunevdj (1365), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 2, 2008 Can... Big thanks to Theis for leaving this one in my fridge. Pours black with a beige head. Sweet with aromas of toasted malts. Hints of coffee. Also hints of alcohol and residual sugars. Medium to full bodied. Medium to soft carbonation. This one reminds me so much of some other stout I’ve tasted... maybe Lion stout from Sri Lanka?
hapjydeuce (558), Carlsbad, California, USA Sep 2, 2007 Bottle and on tap in Cambodia. I was pretty impressed with an Asian take on this type of beer. Nice light tan head on top of a deep hazy mohogany with reddish edges. Nose of chocolate malts, smoke and hops. It goes down kinda easy and has a decent bitter bite to its finish. Could be much smoother in the balance between the heavy roasted flavor and the hops profile, but I was glad to have this after being away from the big boy imperials for a month. tomciccateri (447), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Jul 23, 2007 From a 330ml can in Singapore. Pours an opaque balck with a very thick tan head and lace. Big body matched to a full mouthfeel. Nice rich dark malts aroma and flavor. Late roasted character. Nice complexity and quite a contrast from the commonplace light lagers. wetherel (977), Carlsbad, California, USA Jun 18, 2007 Drank on my flight to Tokyo on Singapore Airlines. Pours with a pinky thick foamy head that shrinks but stays thick clinging to the sides of the (er) plastic cup. Roasty aroma reminiscent of the flying dog barrel aged gonzo I tried recently. Taste is similar too, with a little too much roasted grain flavor. A little bit of that skunky back of the mouth taste from Bud. Needs serious aging. jarspag (503), San Diego, California, USA May 20, 2007 Yangon, Myanmar...in can. Not too bad, finally I find a beer that is not a pale lager/pilsner...etc etc etc. This country was very interesting - drinking beer made it even better.
