A surprisingly good stout from SE Asia. much better than any of the other dark beers I had in the region. A touch of an alcohol taste, but not nearly as bad as the Guinness they make in Kuala Lumpur. Very smooth and even flavors, with a touch of something sweet afterwards.

A very heady slow-rising stout. The head is very thick and hoppy/stouty. This is nice. It’s pretty sweet, almost porter-like, but in an acceptably way. A very nice stout. Hand-delivered from from Thailand. thanks, mom.

Canned (thanks tbone_). Black colour with decent brown head. Sweet alcoholic nose with notes of roast, coffee and licorace. Also some bready notes. Flavour of wet burning wood/smoke (extremely roasted and smoky), as well as sweetish bitterness like old black coffee. Also some very dark chocolateish notes found. Finish and aftertaste is dominated by the smokishness, as well as some toffee and coffee. A sting of alcohol also while drinking it. Lovely palate also. One hell of a good beer.

Bottle, purchased at the same place I found the Hurlimann Hexenbrau so it probably has a couple years age on it. Opaque black, abundant and dense tan head. Aroma very similar to a good port. Very full body. Quite wine-like, although with some Starbucks-evoking roast and very subtle yet pleasant hops. It should be served close to room temperature; when fresh out of the fridge it’s somewhat unnervingly metallic. This does pass quickly, though. All in all an extremely good beer.

I had my first and only ABC 21 years ago, and I remember the flavor as if it were yesterday. To a 21-year old Midwestern boy it was like a date with an asian paramour - exotic, spicey, and adventurous. - everything American beers/girls are not. Thrilling, astringent bitterness, powerful hoppy finish, satisfying alcohol warmth. I wish I could find these locally!

somewhere inbetween lion stout and a good australian "foreign" stout like southwark. it has the vanilla and the irish coffee aroma of lion, as well as the chocolate pudding and port flavour. the southwark part is some slightly industrial burnt bitterness and noticeable alcohol. good stuff

Opaque very dark red brown with large lasting brown head and light lace. Sensuous coffee, roasted malt and light chocolate aroma. Medium body with nice smooth but relativley thinnish palate for a stout. Medium bitter, strong coffee and light caramel and chocolate flavours. Medium bittersweet finish and aftertaste. Surprisingly good! High ABV extremely well masked considering the relatively low intensity of the bitter flavours.
