I had a bottle of this beer poured into a glass while in Singapore. The beer had a light aroma featuring chocolate, coffee, caramel, and some modest barley and grain. The taste was a sweet-bitter mixture featuring prominent flavors of coffee, caramel, and a bit of grain. Its body was thin and a bit syrupy, with low carbonation and a light mouthfeel.

33cl can (8%) brewed in Cambodia. Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorice, some dark chocolate and hints of coffee. Well balanced with the alcohol well integrated. Smooth and quite delicious. Very nice foreign stout! (Second time I tried it, it was not as good, so it’s a bit hard to rate, but I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt) (2012-04-29)

Meh. Eat with spicy food. Sweeter than is typical for the style, but I’m not one to complain. The locals drink to get drunk, not sip, so the alcohol flavour you get here is seen as a plus.

Deep rich black color with thick, brown head. Smells roasted malty with lots of coffee and some licorice. Starts with lots of burnt malts and toffee. Some licorice in the background. Middle part has lots of roasted coffee, very bitter and salty. Long aftertaste of bitter roasted coffee and chocolate.

Got some cans in Yangon Myanmar. Brewed in Burma under license. Very nice stout. 8% Very surprised to get a beer with body in this place. Pours dark brown with a chocolate head. Taste quite on the sweet side and after taste some bitterness. After all quite good.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2012 33cl can in various places in Cambodia. Although ABC (originally Archipelago Brewing Company) Extra Stout is made in Singapore it is also licensed for brewing in Cam,bodia where it tastes different and remains at 8% abv - for now at least. A massive beer for Cambodia, thick, black, sweet, assertive and with a gert dollop of liquorice. Unlike anything else in South East Asia.

11 oz can flown back from Singapore by beertraveldude, thanks for the opportunity David. Pours a solid black color with a decent tan head that slowly recedes with minimal lace left in its wake. Smells mostly of caramel and brown sugar with hints of lactic burnt grains ala Guinness. Lightly fruity, slightly melanoid, and acridic coffee with little to no hop aroma or flavor. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation with a slick bubbly mouthfeel. This is surprisingly not a bad brew. I have had worse Export stouts before and if I ever find myself needing a dark beer in Singapore I may give this another go.

Can from JMD. Black with an offwhite head. Aroma of dark chocolate roast malt. Flavour is sharp, deep roast malt that gives the urge to eat crisps to balance the palate with is almost salty.
