Cask; Regular.
A golden amber bitter brewed using a blend of malts and finished with English golden hops for a delicious bittersweet ale.

Cask at The Wellington, BIrmingham (21-Sept-09). Dask copper-brown in colour with a short head. Light grassy-hoppy scent. Thin. Straw and grassy malts. A bit sticky in the mouth. OK.

Pours a hazy orange with no head. Aroma is soapy, bready malt. Dried fruit and malt start. Fruity malt finish.

Cask, The Figure of Eight (JDW), Broad Street, Birmingham. Sampled as part of a trio of festival thirds, but not officially listed as a festival beer. Good to see them dishing up something obscure and local alongside the nationally available stuff. Caramelised sugar aroma. Tawny red with a swirl of a head. Cherry boiled sweet and candy floss-driven in the local style. Cherryish, buttery and flimsy, but I (quite) like it. Varnish splashes. Marginally better than (and not dissimilar to) the John Smith’s Heritage.

Cask conditioned at The Lamp Tavern, Birmingham. Amber with white head. Quite a perfumed flowery beer, green with a sweetish note. Quite low impact on flavour, really fairly dull.
