Bottle, Kris Wines, London. Cracked this open to watch the Euro 2008 final and roar home a successful scorecast. Poured jet black with a large brown head. Malty, sweet dark chocolate aroma. Looked promising enough yet was a bit too cloyingly sweet.

33cl, thx to Jerre!, not complex sweet Stout, yet balanced, hazy, small head, nothing special
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 eManu (381) - Kuala Lumpur & Brussels, BELGIUM - FEB 4, 2010
Pours a dark brown with a nice beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, brown sugars, caramels. Flavors of sweet malts, caramels, brown sugars, and a hint of chocolate. Low carbonation, sweet and a little creamy. A little too sweet and watery.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2012
33cl Brown bottle, brewed for the fantastic farm/beer shop known as Cuvelier Noel’s in Abele as far as I know.
I decided to pour this beer into my Westmalle chalice, so it can breath and look good, it did! Sadly the lovely foaming tanned head soon became just a collar and an isolated wispy island in the centre of the chalice. The body was a clear, rich, deep ruby red.
The smell is fairly ’fairground toffee apple sweet’, add a bag of treacle, some ’Bazooka Bubble Gum’ and you’ll be half way there. The taste is sweeter. Now I’m into sweet things, but like my beers to be a little less so than this. If however you are into sweet milk stouts, this is the baby for you.
The alcohol pops up towards the end of each sip as the sweetness begins to dry out in the mouth. All in all interesting, but too sweet for me. I’ve averaged the scores out because I feel that is only fair, nothing wrong with this, just very sweet.
Best before 4th Aug 2010, it was reviewed and consummed on 25th Apr 2010.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 eaglefan538 (2735) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JUN 5, 2006
Odd, maybe just cuz I haven’t had a stout quite like this before: oddly sweet, not very outstanding, and somewhat stout like. This is an example of Belgian and Stout not mixing well. Very dark appearance with near to no head. Aroma was sweet with dark fruits coming through. Flavor was very sweet, artificially so, with dark fruits in there (hard to discern which ones), and with a lightly roasted type finish. No hops to balance and bitterness was near to none. Nice keepsake from small town Belgium touring, but not something to seek out if you don’t stumble upon it. Actually, I wouldn’t waste the alcohol capacity on this one if in Belgium.

30/08/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 14/9/12 (2011-419) Thanks to Jerre for getting me a bottle!
Very dark brown beer, high viscosity, aery beige head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: sweet caramel, some mocha, citrus fruits, chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: very sweet slick start, soft citric and bitter hops, very dark brown caramel, more sugar. Aftertaste: sweet sugar, bit nasty bitter touch, more sugar. Not my cup of stout.
