bhensonb (4181), Woodland, California, USA Apr 25, 2009 Bottle from La Soif du Malt. Hazy golden amber color with quite an exuberant beige head. Spice and fruit aromas over malt. Medium minus body with mild carbonation. Spicey and fruity flavors. Touch of honey. Finishes with a mild, dryish bitterness. Cloudy pale amber, rich airy head. Fruity with medium bodied and rounded, blown up mouthfeel. Fairly light flavoured with crystallic malt character. No bitterness. Allen (1282), Switzerland Jan 30, 2009 Appearance: It pours a clear amber beer. Not much lacework. Aroma: The nose is mainly of honey and rather sweet. Flavor and palate: Cork, alcohol and honey in the taste. Sweet. Metallic. Vegetables appearing in the finish. A mediocre beer. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Jan 30, 2009 courtesy of Laurent Mousson - clear golden-amber colour, no head retention; honey and spicy nose; some tartness and medium-bodied; notes of alcohol and a metallic touch show up in the aftertaste, short and mineral thebeertourist (2750), Oslo, Norway Jan 17, 2009 From bottle at Le Sous-Bock, Paris. Hazy amber with a persistent head. Fruity aroma. A bit sweet initially, countered by spicy graininess, ending quite dry. Quite alright. RichardGretton (3128), Leicestershire, England Jun 19, 2008 Bottle. Golden/blonde beer with a light head. The aroma is weakly malty and bitter, the flavour is dampened fruitiness with a lightly dry finish. Overall an average malty and mildly spiced beer. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Nov 18, 2007 12 oz bottle purchased at La Cave à Bulles in Paris. This is my first beer brewed with seaweed. Poured a clear golden color. Head was white and dissipated quickly. There was some tattered lace on the glass at the end. Smelled of noble hops and subdued cereal grain. Very pilsner-ish. Dry on the tongue with effervescence on the big bubbly end of the spectrum. Thin mouth feel. The flavor was similar to the aroma in that it was also very pilsner-ish. However there was also a certain je ne se quois in this French beer that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. I can only assume it came from the seaweed. It was subtle and didn’t resemble seaweed to the extent that I would have been able to identify it blindly. I was hoping for a more dominant seaweed flavor, but this beer was interesting nonetheless.
