COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Turbodog is the inspiration for this robust dark ale. It is brewed with generous amounts of pale, caramel, and chocolate malts and Willamette hops. Whole natural vanilla beans are added during the aging process. This combination provides a rich body and color with chocolate, vanilla and toffee-like flavor.

25 years ago Abita Brewing was founded on a pristine artesian aquifer north of New Orleans. For a quarter of a century, Abita has proudly brewed full-flavored ales and lagers. We thank our loyal customers for their support and pledge to continue the tradition of brewing excellence.

750ml bottle poured into glass. Dark color with a thin beige head. Flavor and aroma has a good vanilla presence. It may be a little too sweet to finish the whole bottle but it makes for a good sipping beer on a chilly night.

Purchased a Bomber from World Market..Pours a Very dark Amber With quite a bit of lacing,Aroma was light with hints of chocolate, Taste was a little flat, But it got better as it warmed up in the glass, Hints of Chocolate and Caramel and Vanilla.. So overall it was better toward the end of my glass, I might try it again later down the road.

22oz bottle. Poured a murky brown/dark-red color, strange off-white head, a bit chunky? I dunno. Anyway, aroma was a bit vanilla. Well, flavor was weak vanilla, roasted brown ale-style malts. Meh.

UPDATED: DEC 28, 2011 Bottle. Pours a murky brown red color with a tan head. Aroma is woody, chocolate and light vanilla. Flavor is light vanilla, chocolate and wood. Kinda bland to be honest. 2.9
RE-RATE 12/28/11 Bottle. Pours a dark cherry red with brown tints. Beige head. Aroma is vanilla sweetness with fruit sweet notes as well. Brown sugar flavor with a big wood and vanilla mix. Better than the first time.

Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Very dark chestnut brown pour with a sticky off-white head that leaves plenty of sticky lacing. Aroma is not very prevalent - brief hints of toffee and licorice. Flavor is subtle and mellow. Some nuttiness, some dark chocolate, very brief mentions of vanilla. Back end has some licorice notes, and just a bit of toffee sweetness. Mouthfeel has a velvety smoothness to it. About average.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe in Davis, CA. Pours very dark brown/black with a 3 finger foamy tan head. Aroma of dark not quite burnt malt with som chocolate and vanilla. Near med body. The vanilla and chocolate are pretty much dominant. Some roast malt follows, and there must be some hop in here, but other than some bitterness it’s hard to pin down. This is a very unusual beer. Like BA without the bourbon. Like stout without body. Damn drinkable tho.

The aroma is chocolate, nuts, earth. The appearance is brown, white head. The flavor is chocolate, some vanilla, nuts, slight molasses. The finish is pine and grapefruit hops, lingering vanilla sweetness. Medium in boy. Not bad. Mostly like a brown ale. Reasonable price, $4.99/bomber.

Pours a nice deep red with a sloppy head - body is full of bubbles. Aromas are mellow; plentiful of caramel and vanilla with a hint of hops. The taste is initially bitter of hops, but then comes down to a light toffee flavor. Finishes dry with a subtle, yet lingering vanilla aftertaste. The way it is described though, I expected way much more explosive flavors for a demanding palette.

Man, was I disappointed with this one. I really expected a bigger, more flavorful turbodog style beer. For a 7% ABV beer is was kind of watery and had non-existent aroma. Color was murky dark brown with a hint of red. Not much head retention which was another confirmation of the lack of body and overal watery mouhfeel for a "big" beer. Seemed undercarbonated too. I wouldn’t have noticed any vanilla flavor at all except that it was labelled as having vanilla on the bottle. The aroma was weak. The overall flavor was out of balance and was very heavy on the roasty/ashy component but didin’t have much else going on besides some grassy hop in the finish. I drank it, but didn’t order another one. It was not worth the money and I was disappointed.
